I am in the business of looking for a new car and need suggestions.

My first choice would be an Audi (A4), but I can't find the color I want. I need other suggestions. I want a sedan with a fair amount of bells and whistles.

Looking to pay up to 30,000 used or new

Wait, aren't you the same guy from the other thread that is just now looking to start your first full-time job??? Obviously it's your money and you can do what you want, but just be sure that you're in a position to buy a "premium" car.

I bought a nearly loaded '11 Subaru Outback for $27k. It has leather, moonroof and HK stereo. So far it has been a great car with good gas mileage (25mpg mixed).

Can anyone suggest a good BWM model that is a decent model for a decent price. I just started looking at them, and have no clue what to look for.

If you're looking BMW, 328xi is the way to go.

Would you consider Lexus IS250? It also comes in AWD.

You are correct, however I have worked almost 40 hours my whole life, just with 2 part-time jobs. I can afford it. I just thought with the full-time job I was worth more.

Haha, yea I'm always open, but would never get another Impala. I am not a big fan of a Honda Civic (just my opinion).

Like I said, I am looking around the 25,000-30,000 dollar range, but am having a terrible time finding a Preowned Audi A4 or Infinity G37 under 30,000.

What do you think about a 2010 or 2011 Nissan Altima Coupe? With all the features I can get one for around 27,000 and it's only 1 year old or new. A 2009 Audi A4 is hard to get for under 30,000 even with over 40,000 miles on it.

Also, the Altima gets better gas mileage. I'm think 23/32 compared with the Audi 19/27.

You should be able to get a new A4 in that price range.

Did you check out the Audi that River Valley Credit Union (Ames) has sitting in their entrance?

Yea, I wish 34,000 Minimum for a new one.

They must hold their resale value extremely well, 2009s are right around 29,000-31,000

I am seeing a list price from about 37,000 to 42,000. I don't know how dealers of Audis work and how much they will bend what I would do is go to an Audi dealership and talk to them for awhile. If 30,000 is what you have, it's what you have. Tell them you will give them 30,000 for one. They will say no way, I gaurentee it, but leave all your contact information. I bet they call you back. Don't budge until they get at least very close. My rule of thumb has always been not to pay more than 75% of retail including trade in on a brand new vehicle. I've done it twice and succeeded on that goal both times. The last time it was two months. If they don't call you back in a week or two, give them a call and just check in. If you're young they will probably think you aren't serious. They were 6,000 off when I first talked to them. Another thing I would tell you is that if you can, wait until next fall. There's a little heat on them then to get rid of the stuff that's been sitting there and they are more willing to work. Again, I have no idea how dealers of the higher class cars deal. My experience has always been in domestic stuff and if I were to guess, they probably are a little more flexible due to volume. I don't know that you will get a new one for the money you want to spend but you aren't out anything and maybe they will get a trade or something and they will remember you. Both times I bought new vehicles they were from the people I thought it was least likely they would get to my number.

There seems to be some decent options here as well:

When was the last for the major upgrade? 2009 or 2010?

2007 was actually the last "major" upgrade, when it changed to its current body style. 2010 was a "minor" change, when they changed the engine compartment hood and front fascia slightly to mimic the Nissan Maxima. There was also a minor change to the detailing in the interior as well.

I believe I mentioned this before but I wouldn't consider a new A4 with a new model coming out in less than 6 months. Unless they offer some crazy deal your resale value could take a huge hit once the new model comes out.

Or the new one could have problems and your resale value could hold stronger than before. I know it isn't likely but it's possible. I would also think with that happening you could maybe find a crazy deal on a new one if you have patience.
