This has been my point since the Temple transfer was out for the season. We have 1 guard that can handle the ball and he is a true freshmen that is no threat to score other than a layup. Holman has done a good job of helping out, but he is not great. Gabe and Grill are not good with the ball, and they are still better than everyone else on the team. The coaches were counting on having 2 better ball handling and scoring guards on this team. They have accomplished a lot considering how limited offensively this team is.

And thankfully Lipsey can hit layups. ISU went from no one last year that could finish at the rim reliably to one player.

Hopefully that improves and I'd almost take that over 3 point shooting.

I was at the game Saturday and both Gabe and Caleb literally watch the ball while they dribble in open space.

I don't know how that's a thing for division 1 players and love what they've done for ISU so no real complaints but seeing it live hit home as to why you can't just have them drive to the hoop.
Thanks for confirming what many have suspected. Assume the same for Kunc, King, and Watson. In today's game, after I've watched alot of other conferences and teams play, I think its a must. Probably should also tell us how our staff has maybe done as good as job as possible these past two seasons.
Does anyone know if Omaha can put the ball on the floor? Milan?...although he's more of a four.

Big 12 is loaded and 2nd time around they've figured us out. Can't score but at least people are off Big Rob as the problem, it's a team thing. I just marvel at how p-poor they are from the free throw line for D-1 talent. TJ has done a great job just needs to find some shooters on the recruitment trail.

ISU is shooting 67% from the free throw line. If they didn't have an anchor who can't even shoot 40% from the line taking a bunch of shots they would be shooting an at least nearing respectable 71% from the line.

I think the problem is we can't match the intensity of other teams in the second half. I was blaming it on foul trouble or being on the road, but those weren't a problem Saturday. Possibly that's all this team has to give, or it could be a coaching issue. Are they tired? Is there a way we could get more minutes off the bench? If it's a mental thing, should we sit some guys for a bit or put on a press. We need to do something to get out of the sleepwalking.

TJ has wrung every last drop out of this, quite frankly, less than talented roster. What's the solution to that? Probably having the best recruiting class in the modern era coming in next year. I'm not worried.

The tired argument is a no go. Shoon is out at the 4 minute mark or before every game whether is he doing well or not. Watson and Ward since Kunc became healthy don't even play. They played minutes when ISU was flirting top 10 and up at the top of the conference so it isn't that they don't know how.

A coaching issue........only with sub patterns that I can see. There is zero reason to give a player like Jones those type of minutes against this type of competition unless Shoon needs a blow or is in foul trouble. And rarely is any of that happening at the 17.00 minute mark in the first half. But every game.............there it is. And again.........Watson and Ward. They were good enough to help ISU early be the talk of the country. So what gives.........I have no clue.

Other than that my thinking is they have hit a wall of some sort. It happens to pretty much every team during the year at some point. Bad thing for ISU is it's almost March and they only have a handful of games to figure things out before hey..........wait till next year.

I honestly think we're being a little hard on the AJ Green waiting game. Hell, Duke wanted him. I think with that caliber of player it's not always easy to know what to do.
We all know AJ is the exact player this team needs this year. I'm not going to get down on him or the staff for that decision.

I think he was coming if not for the Bucks last minute offer

I’ll judge him. He’s done a helluva job these first two years. He inherited a 2 win team, went to the Sweet 16 and will be back in the tourney in Year 2.

Don’t forget he has set a precedent as to how he wants to play. Wait until he squeezes every bit of talent out of the big time players he has coming in instead of kids who are limited in ability.

Yeah, I agree that TJ has some odd substitution habits. And I don't get at least giving Watson minutes.

He was playing plenty when ISU was doing very well.

He may not be the trusted senior Kunc is......but he adds a dimension of athletics that is missing on this team right now.

And like I have too many times......did nothing to hurt ISU when they were at the top of the conference.
