Testifying
I don't know if Bruce Pearl will get Auburn to Tennessee levels he had, but I think they have a shot at making the tourney in a couple years with his slimeyness.

Usually these kids end up being diva's and sulk when not getting the ball. Hope somebody looks at his life outside bball before making a big push. RV was the last scammer who needed media attention.

What? It's players like this that help teams win conference titles and make final fours. Kansas and UK are filled with high ranked players and the results speak for themselves

Why is everyone talking down about Arkansas? Arkansas being good and "people seeing him on TV" has nothing to do with him going there or if he goes there. His brother went there and he lives 20 minutes from there. I doubt he cares about what everyone ITT has been talking about.

Stuff ITT is probably the same exact stuff that was on Notre Dame boards when they were recruiting Allen Lazard. Almost identical similarities between the 2.

Other than a troll with 5 posts and a new account, who else is talking down on Arkansas?

Why a talented basketball player would want to play in the SEC is beyond me.

Come play in the SEC where no one will see or care about you.

And I got ripped yesterday for trying to say the SEC wasn't terrible lol. It's obviously top heavy with Florida and UK. But I do think that Pearl and Martin will continue to improve their programs and add more depth to the conference.

UK and Florida have elite programs. The rest of the SEC is blah and they probably have the worst fan support of the any other major conference. I know it's appealing to play in front of hundreds of people for some, but basketball at its elite level is played in front of full arenas of ravenous fans. In other words, the SEC is a terrible basketball conference. There's not really any debating that.
The SEC is not a terrible basketball conference but they are the worst of the basketball power conferences. Sixth out of 33 isn't terrible, just not as good as the other conferences that Monk has to choose from.

That's like saying the B1G isn't a terrible football conference because they are better than the Sunbelt Conference

Right now they are the worst of the power5 conferences and probably the AAC. Can they improve, yes. Will Monk go to Arkansas, it wouldn't surprise nor upset me. But it is not on par with the other major conferences.

Given the recent history we have with a highly touted recruit deciding to play in the half empty gyms of the Mountain West, it surprises me that anyone on here sees a reason to argue whether the SEC is a good enough conference for Monk to play in. I know nothing about his recruitment beyond what has been posted in this thread, but it would surprise me if he doesn't go to Arkansas, given his brother's position there.
Family ties are nearly impossible to beat in recruiting. I also think people put way too much weight into how much high school recruits really care about winning championships in college. Sure, it matters to some. But I guarantee almost all would trade away a title for being a lottery pick in a heart beat.

It's just lazy competitiveness to call the SEC flat out terrible and this is coming from someone who as a general rule hates the SEC. The SEC stinks when compared to the Big 12, Big 10, ACC, PAC 12 etc... but they still have a number of excellent programs that are very competitive.

I think that's what everyone means when they said they are terrible.

Recruits understand better than fans that every year there are teams that look ready to compete for and win championships that DON'T. If they leave all the other things on their list behind just to pursue a title and they don't win then they missed out on all those other things that were important to them for basically nothing. There's no guarantee of winnind titles so these kids have to try to get the best combination of things that are important to them. Some don't care about anything other than trying to win; others have mroe things that are important to them such as family and childhood dreams of playing for their favorite program. Nothing wrong with that.
