Truth is we probably wont know exactly went down till after the season.

Look at your first sentence as how Herman could have done better. He had three NFL OL, the only two iSu WRs to ever get paid inthe NFL as WRs and some damn good backs. You can deamn well bet that Rhoads wanted to pound the rock more when Herman was here and had the talent to do so.I would guess Mangino doesn't want to slow it down and pound the rock, and that's what we need to do with 2 good young RB's and a QB that can run the read option.
Herman did decent with the offense for what he had to work with, the Pinstripe Bowl sucked, but that is really the biggest knock on Herman I have. Messingham shouldn't have happened.
I think we get 2-3 wins to close out the season, and CPR will be back next year, which until the second half of the Baylor game I was not excited about. Now I am excited for the final stretch here as I think some good things can happen.
What? I just said that Rhoads wanted to start lanning and Mangino did not.
I think this totally makes sense. I think MM kept Sam in because he thought it gave him a better passing game. As a defensive minded coach I would think CPR would favor a strong running game.
So...Rhoads wants Sam and Mangino quits/gets fired leaving Rhoads as the man in charge of the offanse and yet the guy he wants is not the starter?i would bet a lot that the last straw was the qb. And maybe Rhoads was the one that wanted to keep Sam.
That he didn't tell the players is worse than Chizik's 2 minute goodbye where he didn't look one player in the eye
Ok I don't get individuals on this site. Everyone has complained about Mangino and his play calling, and wanting Sturdy calling the plays. Now that we have this, everyone is jumping on CPR. Can we atleast wait to see what will happen first before we even jump on this change?
Now you've got me speculating about wontons. Mmmm, wontons...

Feels like a desperation move by Rhoads to show JP he was willing to make drastic changes to right the ship. Interesting that Wally's job is safe, even though offense and defense have been equally inconsistent.
Was just going to point out this might explain the conflicting statements CPR has made about Lanning, and his play. He might have been trying (unsuccessfully) to cover for his OC. Not on the CPR bandwagon, but it would explain some things.
