You don't think he didn't have either one coach or a member of the media at minimun contacting him pretty much every day during that 14 months? And that is not even counting all of the social media stalker fans constantly badgering him about it. You don't think there was a lot of pressure on him to constantly defend his decision to go to Iowa State? Maybe you should look at that WHO interview again.

ISU sure wasted a lot of money on the recruitment of Jeff Jones. I wonder if Kill called out the media for asking Jones questions about his recruitment???

The difference is that I don't recall Jones saying that he was 97%-100% sure on a committment.. Correct me if that is wrong. Sure ISU didn't get the recruit, and Kill could have just as easily said that ISU wasted time and money on Jones or any coach could say that about any recruit they got for that matter, considering that typically they are recruited by more than one school. The difference is how relentless the media and Iowa were in the closing days when they had known for nearly 14 months by that point that AL's mind was made up. Sure it was a last ditch effort and one worth shooting for, but that doesn't make Rhoads a poor sport for saying that their efforts were in vain. As I said before, I am sure that the loss of a great in-state-recruit stings a little for Iowa. You lost on this won. Quit your *****ing and move on.

Okay this is my first post on CF, although I have thoroughly enjoyed the forums for the two years. I have decided to finally jump on and give my two cents on a subject that I view as overemphasized. He simply stated that the two programs wasted time and money on a recruit that has stayed loyal despite heavy recruiting from ND and Iowa and scrutiny for his decision from the media and I am sure pressure from other sources. It was obvious that the kid had no intention of changing his mind, yet they continued to recruit the kid. Does it make CPR angry that they did so? I highly doubt it considering that it is part of the game, but I do believe that it relieved a great deal of stress to have AL's signature on NSD. My belief is that the media and Iowa fans are upset because CPR laid down some truth in the press conference. It is a bit of a tough pill to swallow when your team with higher accolades loser to a less prestigious program in the recruitment game. It is the same kind of meltdown that you will see here on CF tomorrow if RV decides to commit to UNLV. But the difference is that the Clone fans won't try to justify their butthurt outside of the CF walls. At least I like to believe that will be the case.

Summary -- Sorry ND and Iowa, you lost on this one. CPR stated that you wasted your time and money on a recruit that was already decided. The truth sometimes stings.

I don't know one person that thought Lazard was ever going anywhere other than ISU.

It was Rhoads choice to act like a child like he normally does. That's why I can't stand him. Just like I can't stand Fran at Iowa. Act like a friggin grown up instead of a big cry baby and actually win something.

I'm actually not surprised that the local media is once again over-reacting. Just like how they over-reacted about ISU's self-reported NCAA violations last year that turned about to be much ado about nothing. Randy Peterson at the Register latched onto it like it was Watergate.

I think it's great that Rhoads called out the media on this one and that he's keeping Lazard off limits from them is the cherry on top. I'm sorry but the local sports media is generally worthless and deserves to be shut out. Let them whine. In this day and age, the traditional media can be completely bypassed in favor of more pro-ISU channels. Using social media, Cyclones.tv, CycloneFanatic, etc., stories and news can still but put out there to audiences.

The story got weeks and weeks of coverage, when the truth became "Iowa student steals from Iowa football team" move along, nothing to see here. Screw the local media.

The way we're covered by national media outlets could not be more of a contrast. Pretty much every day there's a national story about Hoiberg's program, even during Iowa games on ESPN. Turn to the local media when you want invented fake negative stories about ISU, not for anything else.

The local media has carried a lot of water for Iowa over the years from Rhabdo Gate to Housing Gate ... "Nothing to see here" is the norm .... Unless, if course it is ISU. Then it is a full blown scandal! The media plays right into all of this.

I'm still missing where he acted like a child... This goes back to my original reply about how I think the whole press conference on NSD is being overemphasized. It's silly and a waste of time. And so is this conversation.

Lol seriously!? You guys are incredible! You just went 3-9! Coach Rhoads has brought the program backwards in terms of wins and losses! It is unbelievable to me how delusional some of you guys are! Allen Lazard is a legacy recruit! Is he a good one? Absolutely. He's a very good wide receiver, but he was never going anywhere other than Iowa State. You act like Rhoads didn't have any advantage in his recruitment, and he chose ISU simply because of what direction he thinks things are heading. He chose Iowa State because that's where his parents went, and it's the team he grew up loving. Clearly winning football games wasn't his top priority.

Facilities, money, big scoreboards, closing in the endzones, and rallying the fanbase doesn't physically change anything on the football field. Allen Lazard can't turn things around himself. Rhoads worst season was his 5th year. It's getting worse. I think it's hilarious that you guys don't understand how ridiculous some of your comments are.
