Thanks, CW. Campbell continues to kick ass in the PR game. I hope it eventually translates to wins on the field. May not be this year, but if he keeps recruiting well this program will get turned around.

In for a long season. Disappointing. The loss really did put just make cy-hawk week (and the rest of the season) pretty quiet at least for state fans.

Agree that O line is a mess right now. Who knows what they can turn it into as the season progresses. Some, not all, of the linebackers had a tough night too. You can defintely see some of the flash of the new talent recruited by this staff. The freshman kid on the d line looks like he's going to be good.

Yes, it is really great to finally have a coach that can give a good post-game speech.

And, I could not agree more that we need to "tone our expectations down this first year." I just do not know how or from where our fans came to have these elevated expectations.

So many fans thought this team was going to just turn around based on some nice video productions put together by a grad student?? I mean people do realize that those are just videos right? I don't get fans who said they were upset about buying into the hype? What hype? The videos put out are just that videos..they never said we are going to win the orange bowl...every modern program is doing those videos now it's part of the social media game..

Wts..I think it's more than warrants to expect to beat UNI. Here's the deal..I went to the game and went back and re watched it as well..You cannot win any football game vs anyone with 5 TO's and nearly 100 yds in penalties.. Go look at how many offensive drives lasted more than 4 plays(good and bad in that we scored several times on 4 play or less drives) and how many offensive series started out basically at 1st and 20 or 2nd and 20.

The last 3 possessions by ISU:

Interception...Fumble...Interception..

Teams improve a lot week 1 to week 2 and I expect that to occur here...If some guys get back who should have been playing but were hurt this week like Payne, Thadd, JGJ, Harvey, etc..we are going to beat Iowa.

Beating UNI is not what I'd call an elevated expectation, and most total win predictions I've seen have been in the 3-5 range. Pretty low expectations for the big league, in my opinion. Chizik won 3 his first outing, and he was coach in-name-only...really. Briles won 4 at Baylor. Need to drop the "I told you so" attitude against the fans when we are only one game into the season.

So the thought then is this.....

We are going to run right into a wall all year long and go 0-12 because we're going to keep trying to establish a running game no matter how many years it might take. Wins are not the concern right now, establishing the system (the plan) is the main thing.

Is this pretty much correct? And I'm not saying I disagree with this at all. This might be exactly what needs to be done. I just don't know yet. I just wonder how long the coaches will have the players attention when we're 0-7 and still running into walls at a 2 yd per rush clip?

And at that point, most of the fans will likely have jumped ship as well.

I was just going to post something about this earlier. I believe we could have beaten UNI with more of a passing game Saturday and ditching the run game, but I think Campbell is going to be very stubborn about establishing this running game, even if it costs us potential wins. I just don't know how long he can get the players and the fans to buy into this?

It might be exactly the right thing to do, but in today's "I want everything right now" society, are people going to be willing to wait 3 or 4 years for success?

This was my biggest fear coming into the season. Everyone wanted someone young who understood the twitters, social media, and relate to recruits. Well we got that but at the same time you have a very young coach, and whole staff, with very little high level coaching experience.

We saw them make just about every possible error last night, coaches, players and IT guys. The good thing is they have a heck of a lot of mistakes that they can learn from.

Toned down from what? Total cop out to put a blanket statement like that on a fan base who reasonably expected 3-5 wins.

And they still might get there. You're putting a lot of stock in one bad night if you're penciling them in for 0-2 wins already after a rough start. All we know is the staff and players had one bad night. We don't know if that's what we're going to see on a weekly basis. Be disappointed with the first week but don't assume it's going to be the norm either.

I'm not. Quote some of these other cliff-jumpers throwing fans under the bus.

Unfortunately this will be a long season. However, I'm still optimistic about what the team will look like in a couple years
