How can a coach preach about being "All In" and then bail. I don't see it but what do I know. When I was younger I also never thought TCU would be in the Big 12
It is worth a lot more than having a "great" season and going 6-6! Everyone would admit Iowa State is in a tough situation in a tough league. Whatever conference you are in...you want to win it! The new ACC won't be a bad league...not the strongest but nothing to be ashamed about.
It is hard to rationalize personally to me as well...could be a million good reasons for all we know (and I don't mean money). Maybe PR loved his experience in Pittsburgh...maybe he loved living there? I have no idea and many of us don't either. I tend to think we are getting worked up for no reason to be honest...I just don't think he is leaving...
People, this is all about money. Do not for one second listen to anyone that says otherwise. CPR has said that he has told his wife that he would be retired in his mid-50s, so his next contract will probably be his last.
I hope he and his agent are using this situation only to improve his bargaining position. I think we should put a 10 year contract in his face immediately, and get him to at least 2 mil per year if not more.

And for everyone who is so worried about this and want to make sure Paul stays, up your donations and join the Gridiron Club. That is the one thing you can actually do in this situation.
Let's not get carried away. That contract would be ridiculous...no one is going to give him $20 mil guaranteed. Nor should Iowa State.
Give him a 3-4 year extension and get his salary to $1.7 mil minimum. That's fair for both sides IMO.
How much is it worth to have your dad drive 20 miles to come to practice and have him and your best friends from high school on the sidelines? I'm not worried-but we do need to give him the resources to compete, including more $ for him and his staff
So we are supposed to base the entire situation our football program is in on one game? If you really want to go that route one might state "ask Mizzou or Baylor" about competing against Iowa State. Okie State was a great great moment for our football program...but it hardly defines the situation our program is in (finances, conference).
I am up for a big raise for CPR. Maybe an additional $500k/year and of course a bump in pay for assistants.
Based on my early thoughts, ISU will win 8-9 games next season, CPR will be even hotter after next year. If ISU can keep him after next season we will have him for 'life'.

If he wins 8-9 games next year and jobs like Florida, Texas, and Georgia open up then I wouldn't be sold on having him for life.
We are at that point where we truly get to see what CPR is made of; his staff, his recruits, etc. We've seen flashes of high highs and low lows throughout the past three years, but IMO, year 4 is where things get cooking.
The last three years have mainly been defined by one monumental victory each year. When wins become commonplace for us, then we can start acting big, rather than dreaming big.
Agree...if he wins 8+ games next year he should get a contract that is equal to or exceeds Ferentz's contract!
I'm not worried until the big boys come calling. How long do you think it will take for Urban to call it quits again or when is Pelini going to finally go over the edge and Woody Hayes someone? That's how we lost Bruce.
