No one (or a tiny minority) is saying that Rhoads would never leave.
The ones with their heads in the sand are the ones who assume that "$" is a relevant, thoughtful answer to the question of coach transfer.
Look at the longest tenured coaches in football today:
Frank Beamer
Larry Blakeney
Mack Brown
Kirk Ferentz
Bob Stoops
Mack Brown
Gary Patterson
Jim Grobe
Greg Schiano
Gary Pinkel
Mark Richt
Jeff Tedford
Mike Riley
All of these guys have been Head Coach at their respective programs for about a decade or more.
Now riddle me this, Batman:
Which of these programs have had "better" opportunities for their respective coaches?
In other words, which of these men have had their names bandied about at a relatively more prestigious program, and would have made potentially more money elsewhere, yet chose to stay?
You know the answer: at one point or another, all of them.
Coaches aren't dummies: when they find a good fit where they can get the most out of their players...a lot of times, they choose to forgo the seemingly "obvious" choice.
Frankly, when it comes to temperment, focus and fit? CPR has a lot more in common with those guys I listed than the "movers and shakers" that are always ratcheting their way toward that alleged dream job in Happy Valley, or that "ideal" situation in Gainesville...
Am I saying CPR never leaves? No way. Am I saying I wouldn't be surprised if he's our coach in 2019?
You bet.
