Here is the kicker with PSU. Paterno barely made over a million from the university. He made boat loads in other places but that was because of his legacy, PR couldn't get that right away.

I don't think PSU is looking at paying 3 million/year for their next head coach. Anything less than 3 million is not worth leaving for right now.

All in all, PR doesn't leave ISU for PSU.

You can't base Penn State's pay scale based on Paterno. I'm sure Paterno was the one that didn't push for pay increases and was more than happy with his salary. Penn State will pay north of $2.5m if they get the right guy because they'll have to. They have to know that the last thing they need now is for their football program to start losing consistently.

Honestly, I'm starting to believe taht we are fans of Iowa State because our lives just aren't full if they aren't full of misery. I'm afraid what would happen if ISU consistently starting winning. 9 win football seasons, every year Sweet 16 in BBall. We'd lose the fan base completely.

Threads like these just prove my point. We already have 3 or 4 on Rhoads to wherever. Things seem to be going well for ISU, so we have to create drama and disappointment to keep us content.

And if the OPs idea was to be funny, it wasn't. And I know the old Addage, if you don't want to read the thread, don't click. Well, I didn't read the thread, I just came in here to post this.

I'm not afraid of Rhoads to Pitt... that's a laterla move at best. What about this speculation though. Rhoads to Penn State? Let's get the fear rumor mill started.

To be honest, this one would scare me a little because 1) he's a great guy, who better to wash away the scars of the scandal then Paul Rhoads? and 2) Even a guy who loves his ISU with his heart and soul probably couldn't turn down a chance to coach at Happy Valley. On the bright side... Who would have ever thought that you'd even have to worry about losing a head coach and assistant to top tier schools?

Penn State Coaching Rumors: Could Paul Rhoads Move On From Iowa State? - Barbecue Sauce - SB Nation Kansas City

Why the **** would anybody be happy to be in Happy Valley?? The place is a disaster now and you think he would be happy to go there? And the fear rumor mill has already started... About three weeks ago when we beat Okie State.

Please....make....it....stop....already....

HE'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE!

It's a MESSAGE BOARD. One thing commonly found on a message board is speculation. If you don't like it, then don't open/read/post in the thread.

The thread title kind of gives away the subject, its not like you were surprised when you read the original post.

If you truly believe he's not going anywhere, then you have nothing to worry about do you. And in turn, no real reason to read this thread.

(Note-"You" is referring to many people on CF lately. Your particular post just happened to be the Guiness pig for my rant.)

What will CPR have for breakfast? He has said before he feels good about pancakes and toast is a lateral move. But what about eggs and bacon?

I know, I know, bacon is toxic but, eggs and bacon is a dream breakfast.

This is why we need to get him some blueberry syrup.

CPR is a hot commodity. There are only so many good coaches available for speculation. When Gill and Weis are snapped up, the list must not be too long.

Youtube helped put him there. Repeat. Every new video gives him more exposure. He is on everyone's radar screen. He is a novelty. His price has just gone up I would speculate to $1.6M-2.0M on his next contract extension signing.

You want success? Prepare to pay.

Is anyone concerned about Rhoads accepting the Republican nomination via winning the Iowa caucus as a write-in?

Under Rhoads ISU will become a big-time program.

I love CPR, but ISU will never be a big time program, we don't have the $$, fanbase, or population to support a big time program.

CPR's name will continue to surface for vacancies as long as he has succes at ISU. The fact is most of the country can't fathom why anyone would want to live in "the fly-over states". ISU has little or no tradition in football when you look at the big picture.

My opinion is that as long as we continute to improve facilities and budget for assistants he will stay at ISU. Danny Mac raised the level of success at ISU but then hit a ceiling he could not break through. Until CPR reaches his ceiling at ISU I'm not going to loose sleep over him leaving.

Depends on your definition of big-time. ISU athletics has never come close to its potential. There is nothing inherent preventing ISU from building a program that routinely goes to good bowls, occasionally competes for a conference title/BCS bowl, fills a 70k stadium, etc. Of course, a lack of proximity the recruiting grounds of Florida, Texas, and California is an innate challenge.

Nebraska.
Kansas State (For a while under Snyder).
Boise State (even though I hate them).

Penn State has already said in public that they are looking at the $1.1 million range, FWIW.

HOWEVER, I just did some checking and this bit of news is a doozy.

I just went over all the footage of Paul Rhoads on the sideline and realized that his hand claps are in morse code. In game order, he's been secretly sending this message across the country:

"I am going to be the coach at Pitt. Tom Herman will not be renewed. I'm pawning him off on Ohio State before I leave this dump for the collegiate confines of Ketchup Field. Also, Jerry Sandusky and I are super tight, so I would definitely consider coaching both Penn State and Pitt simultaneously. Finally, Chizik called and wants me to pick up the Defensive Coordinator duties. He says I can Skype in the play calls. Gonna make billions, suckers."

Kind of overwhelming I know. Those hands are more powerful than I ever imagined.

This mindset just bothers the hell out of me. "We can't do it, we are Iowa State" Im really glad Rhoads doesnt think this way, nor do the mindsets of a lot of people that used to think along these lines, my family included, the culture is changing.
