Thomas is better than Ozigbo?

Ozigbo is rated a bit higher and is heavier. But can't help noticing that Joshua Thomas runs a 4.49 40 while Ozigbo runs a 40 in over 4.7 seconds. The extra speed is a good thing IMO.

No one really knows who will be the better RB in college. I do know that Joshua Thomas is a beast on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Bottom line is that they are both good backs IMO. And I am not disappointed at all in getting Joshua Thomas instead of Ozigbo. I see Ozigbo as more of a big situational back. While Joshua Thomas is not necessarily a big back, but more likely an every down back that has decent size and good speed. Definitely a player who could move to LB easily if RB does not work out. I don't think Ozigbo played defense or did he?

Looks like it if you peruse the offers each had. No way to be sure until both hit the field in a couple of years.

This "news" about Nealy and Ecby is unsettling, if this is more the internet mongering I'd like to hear more about the situation. Perhaps CW can look into this, because we get disturbingly thin at RB without Nealy in the mix...Warren will be a good one but I don't think he's quite ready for full time action (needs to add streng.th). Wouldn't seem to make much sense for a guy like Nealy to transfer at this point in his career, but stranger things have happened. I'm going to hope this is typical off season blather until we know more...or hear from credible sources.

Especially with him basically knowing that he will be our every down back. There is a good chance he won't have to split carries with anyone this year like he has the past two years with AW.

Wallen is a very credible source.

Thank you. They both quit the team friday. If they rejoin or are allowed to rejoin is another thing, but as of right now Nealy and Ecby aren't part of the football team. I'm not trying to validate myself, I just thought people might want to know about our starting running back quiting the team.

Really glad to have him on board. The key to turning this ship around is getting quality recruits, getting kids who care and play with heart. Welcome aboard Josh, I hope you find Iowa State University's campus, facilities, and fans, to your liking. Enjoy your adventure!

I guess that opens up 2 more scholarships. Nealy supposedly quitting brought back memories of him getting in trouble when Albert Gary had his legal troubles. Hopefully nothing happened along those lines.

Troubling that they would quit. IMO, that is part of the problem with some of our guys is that some seem to be quitters. Especially a RS senior quitting.

I'm holding out hope that Nealy has a change of heart. When the announcement that he's no longer part of the team happens, there's going to be a massive **** storm from the media.

Yikes. Why do you think so many guys are leaving? Totally understand the ones who can't stay out of trouble, but quitting the team is a different story.

If he has a chance to graduate this spring and transfer to a different school without sitting out then that's not a bad deal. If he quit just to quit that it is a whole different story.

And Wallen is a pretty good resource for info here. Stop hating on the guy for bringing in relevant (but unofficial) news.

To some up what I've been told it's as simple as they are tired of losing. If you want to manufacture a bigger story please go right ahead.

Don't want to be associated with a team that can only beat a Iowa by 3 pts would be my guess

Well, the bigger story is how BIG the losses are. Never seen a team get blown out so bad, so many times.

That's true, but there's a difference between people quitting the football team because they are tired of losing and people quitting because Rhoads has lost the team, etc. which is what many want to manufacture out of this.

I wouldn't manufacture a bigger story. I haven't heard about any of this. I knew what was going on at the time Gannon decided to quit the team. Mangino lit into the offensive lineman after practice. Singled them out in front of team. Asked them to stay after in the locker room and then lit into them some more. Some weren't happy about it including Gannon. This is news directly from an offensive player who was there. It later came out that Gannon was suffering from anxiety. Makes sense as to why the butt chewing by Mangino probably pushed him over the edge. As I've dealt with anxiety myself I can kind of relate to how he was probably feeling. It builds up over time and when it hits it's hard to deal with in a healthy manner. There's definitely a lot of pressure on the players to perform.

If that's why you're assuming that I would manufacture things then it is false. What I heard had happened back then was true. At that time there was definitely some division in the locker room. I'm sure that's not uncommon when it comes to a team dealing with losing. Everyone is frustrated.

With that said, I haven't heard anything about these latest departures. That's why I was asking.

When that happened you said Rhoads lost the team. The story you are telling now is just about Mangino being Mangino and a guy not knowing how to deal with it due to undiagnosed anxiety. Huge difference.

Weren't you the one that said Rhoads had lost the team and then he beat Iowa a week later?
