imagine if reeves was 5-10 with his leaping ability, and he is a decent tackler as well. gets beat on the big plays because of his height from time to time but holds his own for the most part. i like that we have 3 DBs commited for next year already and all freshmen!!! now lets get a few LBs and a couple awesome OL!!

another undersized corner in a league with huge receivers. My last girlfriend was 5'10 for crying out loud. hopefully he has a 50 inch vertical and can run a 4.3 or I don't see what the big deal is.

Our last 5 DBs are 5-10 or taller. I'm glad we stopped recruiting the Shire for DBs. We were burned a few times last year on alley-oop passes.

*cough* Pinstripe bowl *cough* Jeremy Reeves

True, but on the other side of that K-State tried the jump ball in the endzone three times in a row (if I remember correctly) to try to take advantage of the height difference and he was up to the task each time.

Regardless, a skilled taller player is a bonus over a shorter player with similar skills at that position.

Better call Mack Brown and let him know that Quandre Diggs (5'10"), Adrian Phillips (5'11"), Ryan Roberts (5'8"), & Leroy Scott (5'10") are too undersized to play corner in this league. Yep, 4 of the 6 Texas CB's are under 6' tall. The other 2 are 6'0".

Looks like someone is new to football.

Even in the NFL the average cornerback is only 5'11".

If the guy has all of the other pieces and can jump he is a good get. Remember that the goal of a cornerback is to defend the pass; a pick is icing. The receiver has to get a whole lot more hand on the ball to catch it while a CB can knock it away with a fingertip or two. That often helps to negate some of the size discrepancy.

ok, ok. I am just so tired of 5'7 corners I would like to see one that is 6'2 or around there just to balance it out. I hope he pans out and is a great player.

He's not 5'10 Einstein besides how many of those are in the NFL?

Texas has ZERO corners that are 6'2". Texas has 1 DB that is 6'2" (Mykkele Thompson) and Oklahoma has 2 DB's (don't separate out CB's) that are 6'2".

There are two DB's on the roster that are listed at 5'7". There are 10 DB's listed at 6' or taller.

Try to separate real football from your fantasy world where all cornerbacks are 6'2 and you had a girlfriend.

Oftentimes taller corners lack the fluidity necessary in a good CB. Also, this guy is a far cry from 5'7"

I'm 6'2, put me out there.

I might not be able to keep up with any WRs though.

The staff is trying to bring in guys who are athletic enough to keep up with Big12 receivers. Because of our recrtuing challenges, we have to take on kids who aren't perfect. Reeves may be short, but more often than not he is on his man like glue and doesn't get beat nearly as often as he would if he were 6'2, slow, and had bad hips.
If Reeves was 5'10 he would probably be playing for UT instead of ISU.

Now it looks like we are starting to pull in 5'10 guys who hopefully are similarly athletic.
