Top receivers in 2011 for each Big12 Team:

Baylor - Kendall Wright 5' 10"
Kansas - DJ Beshears 5' 9"
Kansas St - Chris Harper 6' 1"
Okie State - Justin Blackmon 6' 1"
Oklahoma - Ryan Broyles 5' 11"
TCU - Josh Boyce 6' 0"
Texas - Mike Davis 6' 2"
Texas Tech - Eric Ward 6' 0"
WVU - Tavon Austin 5' 9"

Someone want to tell me what's wrong with a 5'10 DB when more than half of the leading receivers in the conference last year are 6ft or under?

Nothing. This is just the standard daily "our recruiting sux" trolling that happens after every commit we get.

Yep, since this guys has 3 stars and offers from other BCS schools we have to bust on him for not being 6'2.

Well while we are at it, might as well give him grief for his name too. I mean D.A.? What is he too lazy to use his full name, he has to abbrevieate? DO NOT WANT!!! lol

Oh just in case :jimlad:

This height discussion brings up a question. For a defensive back wouldn't something like standing reach be a much more useful number than height? Until DBs start heading the ball like soccer players I care a lot more about where their hand is than where their head is.

Yes. 40 and shuttle times run in full gear would be a lot more useful than those run in shorts, too, but that's not what we get.

No.

and we all know listed heights are a joke. take every guy and subtract 1-2 inches.

Despite the obvious jokes coming from this post, you do realize this didn't make your point at all right? If every guy takes 1-2 inches off, they are all still the same in relation to each other.

Have you taken a look at the commitment lists of those same teams? But go ahead, twist information any way you want do.

imagine if reeves was 5-10 with his leaping ability, and he is a decent tackler as well. gets beat on the big plays because of his height from time to time but holds his own for the most part. i like that we have 3 DBs commited for next year already and all freshmen!!! now lets get a few LBs, and some awesome OL & DL!!

Added a little more to yours - don't forget about the D-Line!!!
Go get em, Wally & Shane!

Huh??? What exactly are you getting at. I was trying to make a point that the majority of the leading receivers in the conference are 6ft and under and we got a commitment from a 5-10 DB. In other words there isn't much difference between 5-10 and 6-0.

What does their commitment list have to do with anything?? The fact that most of the DB's being recruited are 6ft and under? Or the very few of the WR commits are over 6-2??? I guess I should thank you for helping me prove my point that we don't need 6-2 DB's to compete in this league.

Okay maybe not, but I'm 6'5" and I've stood next to him. He seemed taller than 6'1". And my point about him is that he's a tall DB and an unconventional one. He looks and plays more like a receiver. His athletic ability and ball skills remind me of a WR. Point being, 5'10" DBs are common and typically solid

You spelled benchwarmer wrong here

Lol what? How does giving the leading receivers twist the information? We want our CB's we recruit to be able to cover those guys... I can somewhat see your point about they have some taller WR's, but that in no way means they will be good just because they are taller.
