I dont see anyone in position to lose the job. I think it is going to be a wide open competition. Its someones to win.

What I meant is that no one will likely perform well enough to win the job between now and next fall camp, but there's a better chance someone's attitude or desire to change positions/schools will take them out of the race. Not that I think that will be the case though.

If someone doesn't stand out in the Spring, it will be a tough year. Our schedule has no slack at the start of the season.

Yeah but he still misses the tangibles that we are use to under AA, which we will miss. I do see Tiller being in the race, but at the end, I do not believe he is our guy. And from what I've heard he doesn't want to switch positions to help the team, which is rather selfish.

Your the first person I have ever heard say anything really negative about Tiller's personality/attitude towards the team. And for this I am going to assume your wrong. All I have heard about Tiller is that he is a team guy... Which I thought was the opposite of selfish?

That being said, it's still an assumption, since I have never really talked to the guy:rolleyes:

Also I do see Tiller as the starter next year. I saw him in the spring game his redshirt freshman year, and although he wasn't overly impressive, he did make somewhat good decisions. Didn't see last years spring game, so I can't say anything about that. I have faith in Tiller, I will not be surprised if he is not the starter, but as for now I see Tiller starting. This year wasn't a great indicator, especially the Uni game, since he hurt his knee/leg in it.

So we have to wait till his senior year... well next year should be fun!

We have to get a LOT better performance out of our WR's. I didn't see a whole lot to get me enthused about that group. And now Jake is gone.

I actually think that on a decent field in decent conditions and with spring ball and summer ahead that we will have a decent QB come fall.

My biggest question mark is the receivers. Will they average a half dozen or so drops per game like they did last year? And Who will replace Collin Franklin?

I'm interested to see if Hammerschmidt keeps developing.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are completely missing that battle. You have Hammer, Howard, Brun and then Richardsen. That will be a pretty good battle IMO.

And why should I take your opinion over from what I heard? Just cause you write up about recruiting from time to time on CF?:twitcy:
I would take Yaman over anything you say because of this reason. He's connected to the team through CF and doing any recruiting reports, which allows him to know more about the team than the average fan (which you appear to be). So unless you hear from the mouth of Paul Rhoads himself, I'll taken Yaman every damn day of the week.

I hope someone can win it in the spring. That way we can give our guy as many reps and try getting the offense to click faster.

You don't have to. I said my opinion is that Tiller will do whatever helps the team whether that be being a QB or switching. I think he loves being here and playing for this staff. I also think he wants to play. Those two things put together tell me that he wants to stay here and if QB doesn't work out he will be willing to switch. Obviously I don't know that, I don't know him and I don't see practice but I do see him as the biggest cheerleader when he's on the sideline and I see him leading the team out of the tunnel more often than not.

Not very often do I get anything from the program. I hope that isn't the perception. I don't have many reliable sources and I don't get much inside stuff. The stuff I do get is often either insignificant or everyone knows about it when I do. The things I do are often opinion related. I guess more than anything, unless I have solid info that isn't premium, I try not to make big claims in terms of things inside the program. I do a lot of speculation and guessing in recruiting stuff, but that's about all it is outside of watching available videos and things like that. Again, I am not really connected to the program and in terms of recruiting I can't get much more involved than I already am. I would love to but there's rules that don't allow it. For now, things are just one mans opinion on a signee, nothing more, nothing less.

How has Tiller not had enough reps to get better? You lose all credibility, name any other back up quarterback that has played four full games, plus replacing AA in the baylor game a year ago, and scrap up time.

First of all, he missed four weeks of work during the season with the knee injury. Second of all, anyone who has played or coached at a high level knows that during a 40-50 play practice the starter gets 25-35 reps and backups split 10-15. That is not enough to get a QB better. That number only will make a guy serviceable. Also, he didn't rep with the starters so timing was not good either. Serviceable QB's can't win games without the other guys making
plays. He didn't get that in his starts. And the fact he never got pushed by Capello for his job....he was very comfortable. Times have changed and hopefully we will see a change in JT.

How about Taylor Martinez we might as well add his name to the list for this totally premature thread

Yeah a change for the worst... can't wait for this drop off compared to AA

Love that "optimistic" attitude of yours. If we all thought like you they could just drop football at ISU and bring back baseball. Then we could use some of our guys that have a little speed to bunt run bases.

Wow, a little dramatic are we? Please how me anything out of JT how I should be overly optimistic for him being at the QB?
