Has BF given JP an ultimatum? Keep Gmac or else we both go? I know that BF is really close to Gmac.

doubt it, because if JP is smart, he'd dump them both rather than keep both, since women's basketball doesn't turn a profit anyway.

concerned citizens
concerned about the "direction" of the "mens" basketball team.

Well of course he does. Does Pollard like losing? How is McDermott going to start winning? What is the plan? I'm not trying to be a smart ***, but why the hell does anyone think McDermott is going to magically start winning games when he's been losing for 4 straight years, and driving off players in droves?

It's not like we have this great recruiting class coming in...

Somebody could post a day by day 5 year plan and it's not going to settle your concerns. Everybody is concerned about the past results and that it's going to be the same thing that we get in the future. No 'plan' is going to change that that's how people feel.

If that's the case (and I hope it's not), then BF should be the athletic director. In all honesty, I can't see JP taking an ultimatum from one of his employees particularly well, and in all fairness nor should he.

I am not too sure about that. I think if JP did fire Gmac and then BF quit right after that. That would mean that JP lost GC, CS, Gmac, and BF. Not a good track record there. BF is someone that cyclone fans LOVE to have here. That would be the straw that would break JP's back. He would soon follow those two out the door. I really think that JP is between a rock and a hard place.

I think the posts toward kg are far to personal. He has a different opinion than most. Big deal.

Sorry man... I personally don't like Greg's buddies telling everyone who thinks Greg is the problem that it's tough and he is going to be here for a long, long time. He gets satisfaction our of ******* people off with that. I get satisfaction in reminding him that his personal satisfaction with GMAC keeping his job for the time being is coming at the expense of the Iowa State Men's Basketball program. I think it is more then fair.

I want an actual reason to feel good about ISU basketball. Not "close my eyes and hope it gets better".

So far, Greg McDermott has given us nothing more than the latter, and if you disagree, please tell me why, because I'm dying to hear it.

This has always been one of my favorite quotes:

Show me someone content with MEDIOCRITY and I'll show you someone destined for FAILURE.

You can use it if you want.

Our hoops program has already arrived at failure. The fact that most of us are pining to get back to mediocrity is what's truly sad.

This has to be one of the biggest jokes of a college basketball program in a four year period in history. Were not on probation, we haven't recieved the death penalty, players aren't shooting each other, were not under investigation. I cannot believe it is even possible for a person to drive a program into the ground as bad as GMAC has. I don't think a coach could do this bad if they tried.

Winning 15 games (roughly 50% of it's games) probably just a tad under.

You don't think there are many more teams that have had a worse losing record? This post has to be one of the most over dramatized statements I've read in a while.

Simply math can show you that there are almost as many programs that have had a worse winning record over the last 4 years than us as there have been teams with a better winning record compared to us.

And I'm sure I can find a quote from you somewhere that states "winning is all that matters".

So, why don't people just let him do his job?

If I'm a stockholder in an under-performing company, I'm gonna have some questions for the CEO. Obviously, the CEO probably knows more about the company and its operations than I do, but if the CEO just said, "trust me," I wouldn't find that adequate. See, trust is something that is both earned and maintained.

I think JP is a good CEO, I really do. He runs a great parent corporation. But one of his subsidiaries is struggling, and I think he needs to consider the management of that subsidiary isn't a good fit for the role. Having worked in a large corporation I've seen where a good CEO lets a colleague and friend run an arm of the business too long. At what point do I start to question whether or not the CEO's relationship with the VP is getting in the way of a good business decision.

FYI, cash has nothing to do with it, but if it helps you sleep, I can go with that.

Isn't this entirely contrary to the conversation Pollard had with Deace a few weeks ago? No offense but money is a big part of it unless Deace is flat out lying.
