It's ok. ISU doesn't need him. He was way over rated. He's not that good. Probably wouldn't have played much next year anyway. This opens up more time for Bubu!

Yea, we'll definitely keep our streak of losing at least 10 conference games per year going to 5, we should all be excited that a kid that played as a true freshman is leaving so that another kid that was redshirted and NOT ON SCHOLARSHIP can get more playing time. We should be excited that Ham left too so we could open up playing time for a recruit to be named later. That makes no sense. I understand backing the program but call a spade, a spade. It sucks to lose ANOTHER guy and it's obvious our coaching staff is the issue. Good luck to Colvin.

I want an actual reason to feel good about ISU basketball. Not "close my eyes and hope it gets better".

So far, Greg McDermott has given us nothing more than the latter, and if you disagree, please tell me why, because I'm dying to hear it.

Exactly! I wold love to hear a good explanation of why Greg McDermott deserves to be the coach here. I would love to here someone that supports him give an objective argument stating why he still be our coach. Come on let's hear it.

dont think gmacs going anywhere next yr, why not just support him and the team.
if hes let go, then support the new coach. face it, mac is who we have.

most of u sound like a bunch of high school girls.....jeesh.

I can't stand this type of post.

During the season it was 'we need to support him and make the call\discuss whether to keep him at the end of the season, just shut up and deal for now'

JP makes his speech before the season is fully over

Then its 'McDermott is going to be here so you should all shut up and deal.'

According to some we should *never* talk about getting rid of a failing coach.

why not just support him and the team.

I went to school at UNI. It was amazing to see him take UNI to three straight NCAA tournaments (although it wasn't as amazing as seeing UNI in the Sweet 16 this last season). I WAS as big a McD supporter as there was prior to the mid-point of this season.

At this point IMO, supporting McD is akin to repeatedly slamming your head against a brick wall. It hurts too damn much and will cause permanent damage if done enough. I will always cheer for the Cyclones, but as long as McD is the coach it's likely only going to cause me more pain.

Somebody could post a day by day 5 year plan and it's not going to settle your concerns. Everybody is concerned about the past results and that it's going to be the same thing that we get in the future. No 'plan' is going to change that that's how people feel.

Why should it? It would probably involve current players staying beyond a year or two, which is obviously ridiculous.

But if we can just sign Clyburn, Wilkins, and Bo Barnes everything will be so much better. Final Four team in the making. :jimlad:

Winning 15 games (roughly 50% of it's games) probably just a tad under.

You don't think there are many more teams that have had a worse losing record? This post has to be one of the most over dramatized statements I've read in a while.

Simply math can show you that there are almost as many programs that have had a worse winning record over the last 4 years than us as there have been teams with a better winning record compared to us.

And I'm sure I can find a quote from you somewhere that states "winning is all that matters".

Because even though we're losing games, we're winning the character battle! And that should make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside and garner the respect of fans of other teams! Kansas may beat the **** out of us, but we can take great pride in knowing how much classier we are than them.

If you read what I wrote, you'll see I grouped myself in the group that is concerned about the past and will it continue in the future. I group myself in the fact that no 'plan' will automatically comfort me.

The 'reasons to feel good' (aka 'plans' from your previous post) are there:

Win at KState. Melvin Ejim. Phillips. (I don't know much about JR yet).

Those are 'reasons to feel good about ISU' that we can see.

Yet... they don't necessarily comfort any of us about the future. That's my point.

If you could write a 'plan' that Greg McDermott could tell to the fans to satisfy their concerns about him being able to turn the program around, please tell me what that would be, because I'm dying to hear it.

And no, stepping down as head coach is not a 'plan' to make us win, that is saying, "The plan is to have someone else come up with the plan".

Everyone jokes about it now but do you guys realize how bad we are going to be next year? Its going to be freaking comedy out on the court. If we thought Iowa had a ****** year this year wait till Iowa state next year. We honestly wont win 6 games next year. We will get beat by an average of 25-30 points in conference play and will not win ONE conference game.

You mean we will miss free throws, bounce the ball off our feet, pass to an angel, step out of bounds, and tip the ball back in our own net?

Mac should have gotten rid of him sooner...Look stupid not doing it, but nothing we can do about it now.

Wow - I agree with kg!
Colvin was a simple punk - the only bigger one I know of is his father. Gmac demeaned himself and lost respect in other players' eyes by putting up with the two of them for so long.
It made me wince when Gmac actually refrerenced Colvin's loser of a father during Chris' suspension, as if he wanted fans to see he was backed up with the "approval" of the dad.
It would have been far, far better, for the sake of the program, if CC had been kicked off by our head coach, instead of leaving on "his" terms.
