From the videos I've seen, he can handle the ball fairly well for his size and has a good stroke from three. Lower efficiency from deep this year but on much higher volume, year before shot it extremely well when he wasn't relied on to do it as much. Plus, he played really well against P6 teams. Could be a really good fit if we see the offense run a lot through the post up at the top of the key again, given that Basile could do a lot more with the ball than Conditt or Jones. What's the big deal with Basile? Yeah he's 6'9" but he doesn't look long or athletic. He look like your typical old fashion post player.
I think Huggy's cachet isn't as strong as it used to be. Without it, he's just a grump at best, and an ***hole. It's got to be tough to play for him even when they're winning, but if you're losing... I can see why players might not want to stick aroundNot that surprising. The style they play used to stand out and be an abrupt change to the rest of the B12. Nowadays, basically every team is playing aggressive defense and that advantage is no longer there. Unless Huggy retires I can't imagine them looking anywhere else, but I can't think fans are necessarily full of hope at this point.
Numbers arent great but NC State fans seem pretty devastated over him leaving
He can step out and hit the 3, he can initiate the offense, can take his man off the dribble at the top of the key and attack the basket, and he has a great back to the basket game. Have you watched his highlights yet? What's the big deal with Basile? Yeah he's 6'9" but he doesn't look long or athletic. He looks like your typical old fashion post player.
ISU's entire offensive strategy on every half court possession revolved around the big men holding the ball in the high post and allowing our guards to try and get open/create mismatches off the ball. Having an actual offensive threat in the high post (Jones/Conditt were not this) would exponentially improve our offense next seasonWhat's the big deal with Basile? Agree. I'm hoping it's a smaller part of the offense moving forward, as it feels like it was a desperation move to make some sort of space under the basket.Yeah I was hoping we'd get some athletes and move away from that

True. Just felt like an awkward fit as neither George nor Rob are great at the things you would want from your 5 running that stuff. Not sure it was desperation as a lot of teams run plays through their post guys. Heck, ISU even did it back in the day with Georges Niang.
If he is a good passer, can hit a 15-18 foot jumper & put the ball on the floor- Basile is exactly what we need. Looking at his stats from last season he makes close to 60% of his 2pt shots, but only 28% of his 3's. So if we are looking for the 2nd coming of Georges- probably not. But he at least looks like he can finish in the paint. Plus he shot 78% from the line.
Sounds like a skilled big man to me. Just a matter if his skills can translate to the Big12.
Game Against Cleveland State - Yes PLEASE!
Another ISU contact.

I think TJ is looking for more Niang than McKay in the post.He reminds me of Niang and we need a guy that can play the high post like Niang did.
