Some wild preliminary totals in NW IA yesterday (right-hand column). Several flash flood and flood warnings.

For those unfamiliar with the area, Boyden and Sheldon are 8 miles apart, but had a 6" difference in rainfall.

Real weird summer for rain where I live in NE Ankeny. Feast or famine...we'll get nothing for two weeks then 2". Then we'll dry up again. I'm sure we're behind on rain but when we do get it, it's been both significant and timely. We were gone last week during the really hot temps and I assumed I'd arrive home to see that everything had gone dormant, but there was still a decent amount of green in the lawns.

Needed this rain, just unfortunate timing to have had my gutters removed earlier in the week during roof replacement (from March 31 hail storm) :confused:
