Can’t get rid of prospects. They are cheap labor. And if there is one thing Ricketts loves it’s cheap labor. Gotta keep prospects to trade for stars on the last year of their deal that we have no prayer of resigning.

I don’t mind not doing anything crazy. I hate no doing it because your owner acts like a broke *****.

Feels like we are not at all convinced we will resign Tucker. Therefore, we have to hoard guys like Caissie and Alcantara.
I was holding out hope but I agree there’s almost no chance they re-sign him now. We shouldn’t be surprised. Just listen to Ricketts do an interview sometime. All he does is whine about how expensive everything is and how hard it is to work with the city blah blah blah.

You cannot win the NL Central let alone a World Series with this rotation. And what the f*ck is the point of holding on to all these triple A guys?! Is there even gonna be room for all of them on the 40 man come the offseason?
They will be next Otani and Judge

Could be right back to mid 80s wins if you let Tucker walk in offseason too. This front office leaves a lot to be desired with commitment to excellence. I'm not saying they're the Athletics but they're clearly not the Dodgers either
At least Athletics have good young players

Our 5th starter is a ******* bullpen game and we couldn’t find anyone? **** off, Jed.
Scary part is I'm really concerned with how Horton, and Boyd finish out with their past injury problems. Hortons pitched the most innings he's ever pitched already and Boyd the most since 2019 currently.

Better to be safe than sorry then for next year. People were already upset at the Tucker trade last winter because of the possibility of a 1 year rental.

I've seen Cassie play numerous times at Iowa and I'm not seeing why he's so invaluable. He's not even close to the ceiling of a guy like Tucker.
Does he have power like Otani or Judge? Is he a plus defender like PCA? I am not imp with his AAA numbers. It is alarming that his strike out rate is 34%

Guess I’m one of the few fans that doesn’t think the sky is falling. Mortgaging the future when you have the second best record in the NL doesn’t seem very bright.

Wish they would have done something more significant but sounds like price tags out there were sky high.

Agree. And none of the good controllable starters got moved at all. They may have decided they only wanted one of these average rentals that were moving and decided that Soroka was their guy.

Still added two nice bullpen arms and a perfect bench player to go with him.

None of the above. He's a average defender and doesn't steal any bases either. If I had to guess I'd say he's a .250/.320 25/30HR guy in the majors.

This is a tough day, probably means we won't resign Tucker and our ceiling is capped probably in the NLCS this year.

Shota and Boyd are good enough to get us out of the wildcard round, after that I have serious doubts. There's no way I'd feel good going up against a Woodruff/ Peralta/Misorowski type rotation in a long series.

So he is another Patrick Wisdom?

What exactly was the point of trading Cam Smith and Paredes for Kyle Tucker then? And what have the Cubs not done this season to justify going for it this year?

Not getting a SP that can start a playoff game makes this a failure of a trade deadline
