There's a guaranteed 3 of us going for sure on Thursday and to the games. Possibly a couple more, but not sure...

We're staying in Westport.

Even though I live in KC we have an Embassy Suites in Westport tradition. We'll be staying there and spending most of the time at Kelly's.

Our group of 6 old-school alumni is going down Wednesday during the day (4 are driving, 2 are flying in), and we're staying at the Embassy in Westport. Westport has turned into a real armpit since the tourney moved downtown (or, more accurately, it now resembles the inside of Buzzard Beach), but we still stay down there out of nostalgia. And the fact that the Suites at Embassy are good for partying in the room.

Wife and I are heading down tomorrow, spending the first night at the Ameristar Hotel (all nighter), and then going downtown Wednesday (The Majestic Restaurant), watching some women's games, drinking that night, and watching the Clones kick some Texas butt on Thursday (I still blame them for OUR conference shambles).

That is false. The bar/restaurant streets of Westport are thriving and doing well. There is a thai restaurant that was featured on the Food Network not long ago. Kelly's, Harpos, and the cigar store are always busy. Westport is a fairly large area and using a blanket statement saying it is an armpit or unsafe is unfair. It's not new, trendy, and "douchy" like the Power and Light is. I go there quite often and have never seen anything out of the ordinary.

My roomate, my friend who goes to Iowa who is a lifelong ISU fan (falls under the category of "Iowa is a better party school") and I will be heading down Thursday after my test. Can't wait! I feel as if I'll be enjoying some Saturday Big 12 tourney basketball!

I'm most likely heading down Friday after tests (given we win Thursday); what would every one recommend doing if I'm staying out by Arrowhead: take a cab downtown or drive myself and park?

If staying farther away, might as well take the cab down, especially if drinking after the game is in the plans.
