I haven't been following bowl selection nitty gritty as closely as I've been following overall CFP ranking.

What chance does Texas have of NY6 bowl and does that have a huge effect on ISU's bowl options? In terms of who is actually playing well lately they definitely look the part.
It is simple, if OU makes the playoffs, Texas is in the NY6 (Sugar). If not, Texas goes to Alamo which send all Big 12 teams down a bowl slot.

I think the predictions of us being in the Tangerine Bowl assume OU makes the playoff. I'm guessing they're putting West Virginia in the Alamo Bowl

No way. Airlines just redid their schedules for the next 6 months when the time changed back an hour. Adding more flights would be really difficult. Particularly the small airports in Iowa.

You're just gonna have to pay a lot more or drive to Minneapolis, Chicago, or Kansas City

Airlines do it every year. They add flights when the demand is high. Not saying Des moines get 15 more. Could get 1 or 2 across multiple days.

We were told breathlessly a few years back that having a 13th data point vs a conference title contender was important.

Lest we forget, both Ohio State and Alabama have been chosen for the playoff in the past despite not even winning their own division, and therefore missing out on that all-important 13th data point.

The committee is going to do what humans always do - let their biases affect their decisions. It’s not fair, it’s not transparent, and it’s pretty much a joke. It’s time to go to 8 playoff teams; make the Power 5 conference championship games play-in games, add the top-ranked non-Power 5 team (maybe with a floor, like having to be top 15 or something) and then two at-larges. Okay, in reality it would be a second SEC team and one at-large, but at least we wouldn’t have people talking about a one-loss Power 5 champ missing the playoff because a two-loss team from the $EC gave Bama a scare.

I wish they would use the computers like they did for the bcs but let the top four teams in.

Can someone explain to me how Iowa gets a Jan1 bowl game? They had 7 other teams besides themselves finish with above .500 ‘conference’ records in the big 10. Iowa went 0-4 against them and didn’t even play the other 3. Amazing.
Their conference has a bunch of bowls on New Year’s Day. I still think they end up in Holiday bowl though.

I might be incorrect, but Holiday Bowl is above Outback in Big Ten pecking order, but happens to be Dec. 31 and Outback is Jan. 1. Maybe Holiday is placed on that date so it gets more of a showcase and doesn't compete w/ other NY games. Anyone with better knowledge can set me straight.

This show should be 30 mins long. But of course they want to milk it and make it as long as possible to get that money.
Should have an hour show before Monday Night Football imo. This way they don't compete with NFL. The NBA kinda does something similar with the draft lottery between playoff games.

Here it comes!!!!!!!!!! After this commercial we will know the top 4.
I love how they pretend they 'just got' the information, despite it being pre-scheduled for release at 11:30 and just so conveniently came right before a commercial break.

I believe that the CFC probably doesn't let it leave their room until right at the time to be released.
