***Official Calm Down Thread II***

I think this team will improve to a tremendous degree over the course of the season. It's going to take a lot of hard work and dedication, and a definite increase in intensity on both sides of the ball.

Calm down?!? Calm down?!? How can you say calm down?!? We've played 2 games already and this team hasn't gelled. SC is the worst player to ever wear a Cyclone uniform....we're selfish....we don't play defense...our players are orphans and their parents don't even love them.

:skeptical:

No point in telling the CFers to calm down. Every time we lose a game we have the worst team in the nation and will lose every game from that point on. The whole "not too high after a win, or too low after a loss," doesn't apply to this forum. When we com out and win a couple games in a row, the optimism will creep back in.
With the way everyone is setting up for the OSU football game, I encourage you to come witness the meltdown here afterwards if we lose badly. It won't be as bad as this, but there will still be some posters drawing conclusions about the state of the program from that game.
That said, if we win Friday, this board will be full of people ******* rainbows.

I think there are some justifiable worries. I think the thing that bothers the most fans is the fact that our fear could be coming true. We have a bunch of transfers that decided to leave rather than deal with the adversity in their old situations. Now they look incapable of playing tough defense(that requires work) or doing anything other than playing a game of one on one. Fred seemed completely incapable of motivating these guys to work. So we have a team of players with questionable work ethic from the get go, a coach with next to zero experience, who is shaping up to be Scott Drew with less talent, no good X/Os guy on the bench(Otz and Mann have always been recruiters), and no point guard to run this fiasco? Sounds like success is right in front of us.

Right now Iowa and UNI are probably playing better than us.

We bring the ball up court slowly and then we do not have a solid plan to get a decent shot.

Looks like we need to experiment with potential lineups a lot more.

Agreed. I just am not sure what plan is right now. Royce walks the ball up and hands it to Scotty...what exactly is the purpose of that? Scott runs the point, effectively taking away his ability to get in a rhythm as a shooter, and when he gets to the paint he isn't strong enough to make the right pass.

I think its time to let Allen man the point.

I'm just praying that CFH realizes Scotty should not be playing PG. It takes way too much away from his game, and that showed last night. I dont know what the answer is, but with the ease of this pre-conference schedule, start giving Sledge some serious time and see how he progresses. The kid is supposed to be good, and hopefully he can learn quick.

This deserves a ******* 2nd thread.

We outrebounded them. We committed less TOs than them (despite not having a "PG"). We got to the the FT line 27 times, much more than them.

We did not shoot well, and we will shoot well. Chill.

Good, valid points, I personally think it was good for this team to lose the way they did. Must play better as a team and move the ball better and play better team defense. It will help immensely in the long run. We will see a different team in the coming games.

I think Chris Allen should be our point guard, and go with Babb and McGhee on the wings. Scottie coming off the bench might be a good solution.

This "team" played like it has been practicing all year. No surprise in this loss. Sloppy, unorganized, lazy defense, lack of fundamentals, selfish, and individualistic. A work ethic that would make Wayne Morgan proud. Hope this serves as a wakeup call but I wouldn't count on it.

Oh yes, bring up Wayne Morgan. The last coach at ISU to win an NCAA tournament game. #clueless

Jared Homan's leadership got that team to the tourney that season and won them that game, not Morgans. It was very obvious the next season.

COME ON! Wayne Morgan is the best coach in ISU history!!!

That is why he is hanging dishes on the sides of houses now.

Ah ok. Thanks for clearing that up.

That's one I haven't heard before. Got any other gems?

Yes, you are clueless. And what's with the hash tag?

Morgan's practices were a joke. Which is what I was referring to. And yes, he was such an awesome coach that he sells satellite dishes now.

Exactly! I have heard more than once, players say how frustrated they were that there was even a coach on the bench with all that leadership just oozing from Homan.

He's actually coaching at Hofstra.

Using "#" on anything other than Twitter is amazingly lame....

Yes, you are cooler than me on the internet.
