***Official Calm Down Thread II***

This team is as soft as they come. No D, hustle and horrible shot selection will not overcome their talent. I've never seen worse defensive fundamentals or lack of effort and intensity in blocking out and rebounding. CFH needs to be held accountable.

I'm pretty sure he said as much in the post game presser. What more do you want done to make him be held accountable??

Calm down?!? Calm down?!? How can you say calm down?!? We've played 2 games already and this team hasn't gelled. SC is the worst player to ever wear a Cyclone uniform....we're selfish....we don't play defense...our players are orphans and their parents don't even love them.

:skeptical:

No point in telling the CFers to calm down. Every time we lose a game we have the worst team in the nation and will lose every game from that point on. The whole "not too high after a win, or too low after a loss," doesn't apply to this forum. When we com out and win a couple games in a row, the optimism will creep back in.
With the way everyone is setting up for the OSU football game, I encourage you to come witness the meltdown here afterwards if we lose badly. It won't be as bad as this, but there will still be some posters drawing conclusions about the state of the program from that game.
That said, if we win Friday, this board will be full of people ******* rainbows.
If we win Friday against OSU, I will overlook the fallout of the rest of other sports. It will be a good year.

I think Chris Allen should be our point guard, and go with Babb and McGhee on the wings. Scottie coming off the bench might be a good solution.
Chris would have to put a lot of energy in moving the ball around and passing and distributing. It will be a leadership call for action.

Yes, you are clueless. And what's with the hash tag?

Morgan's practices were a joke. Which is what I was referring to. And yes, he was such an awesome coach that he sells satellite dishes now.
I thought he was a Big Ten Network analyst.

Agreed.

Also, have you heard about the new multi-quote feature they developed here?

we will be ok. still early, no chemistry yet.

Yeah, we'll be fine. There's bound to be games on the road where it seems there is a "lid" on the hoop. It happened last night, and when it happens again they will have to find different ways to win ballgames in the future.

Sometimes you need a tough/upsetting loss to clear the cobwebs. It'll be good for the guys, honest. Make no mistake, this was an embarrasment of a game and hopefully it opened our guy's eyes on what they need to work on as a team.

I would agree with this - a very lazy team. When effort is not demanded or required by the coach, this is what you get.

A few thoughts...

1) I'm amused by the posters coming out to happily congratulate each other and pat themselves on the back for expecting us to suck before the season even started. Typical CF.

2) I hope we see a change at PG before the next game. I can't imagine Allen could possibly do any worse (not bashing Scotty, I love the guy...he's just not a point guard).

3) All is not yet lost. As much as it sucks to lose to Drake, we are just two games in. Still a lot of chances to turn this season around. But if were to somehow end up on the NCAA bubble, this will probably be the loss that keeps us out of the tournament.

4) Expectations have been lowered. I'm going to try to treat this season like last year. Just enjoy anything good that happens. Sucks, but it is what it is. If the team shows that they can come together, overcome the lack of a true PG, and start playing well...then maybe I'll start hoping for an NIT bid.

5) I find the "It's early in the season, we shouldn't be upset that we just lost to an MVC bottom-feeder that we beat by 48 last season. In fact, we should be glad we lost!" posts even more annoying than the Clones21/Clonedude style "We'll never win another game!" meltdown posts. We should be ****** off about losing to Drake, even if you didn't expect to be good this year.

put Allen at the point

I agree, he dished out 7 assists last night and looked more comfortable than Scotty in that role. he can handle the ball better, is faster, can get to the lane, and is more athletic than scotty. I am wondering why Fred didn't put him at the point unless it is just due to him not being close to a 100% yet.

Seriously we need someone like Sledge in there. i don't even give a **** if he can't shoot (which he probably can). If he can pass the ball and not turn it over and get assists, that's allll I care about.

Thanks donk. He can't do those things, so he won't be playing for awhile.

Really? he's literally played 90 seconds in 2 games and we think we know he can't? Okay. Just because FH hasn't played him for more than 90 seconds, doesn't mean ****. I'm willing to bet him not playing much has more to do with FH trying to build chemistry amongst our starters and 6th and 7th men (like Booker and McGee) than Sledge not being able to play.

Why don't you ask FH himself why he's not playing Sledge, because honestly nobody REALLY has any idea including you, except for our players and staff.

This part is true - none of us fans know the real reason why. However, it seems likely that if Sledge was ready at this point, CFH would have him on the floor. The fact that he's only played 90 seconds probably tells you all you need to know about how ready he is to contribute. Asking a true freshman to be the facilitator and distributor on a team full of scorers is a tall order, something few freshman PGs are capable of. Sledge is going to be good, but he's going to need some time to get there. And that probably means a season of sitting and watching.

You are an idiot. You think Fred is trying to build chemistry between guys as opposed to playing someone @ the most important position in college bball?! He turns the ball over and is not ready to play high level D-1 ball. Hopefully he will soon enough.
