Why would a player want to go to VCU if they were P5 talent? Their schedule would be such a drag to play. They will get a few non-conference nice games based on Shaka's body of work but the conference season would be hard to get amped up for.

The A-10 is actually a pretty tough and competitive league. Fun to keep track of come February/March.

If you have trouble getting amped for a conference game, you shouldn't be playing collegiate sports.

Im surprised VCU is getting the visits / recruits still shortly after Shaka leaving. Im sure next man up is more than capable but still a little surprising.

You could say the exact same thing about ISU...

Except that we're a bigger school in a better conference with better TV coverage.

VCU, who now has some decent (recent) tradition to sell, is also located in a pretty good spot geographically. A 5-6 hour drive from Richmond, will put you in the area of a lot of recruits.

Washington DC and NYC kids would be drawn there as well I would think.

Just heading north on I-95, you're looking at approximately:

105 miles to DC
155 to Baltimore
250 to Philly
350 to NYC

Plus you have North Carolina directly south.

Pretty sick talent

Shaka even put more VCU kids in the NBA than Fred...VCU is a major program, with plenty to sell to recruits.

Since no one has brought to publics attention here is a update on Zack Norvell. Looks like he might be pledging soon @ZagsGuru: https://floridastate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1817200

Nice find, I was wondering if anything was coming from FSU side about his visit. Comments are very similar to the ones after his visit to Ames. Mentioned he'll sit with his parents and have a decision in a week or so which aligns with his original time line of having a decision in November.

Not sure of ISU's chances though glad Zach didn't rush to commit this weeks and is taking a measured approach with his family's input into his decision. Prohm's track record with guard play and location should be good selling points.

The gushing about FSU and the "top 5" recruiting class was pretty intense.

Of course, they're waying all the options one of which could be-if the recruiting class is too great, I could be sitting there watching.

I read between the lines on the recruit gushing by norvell. "So many top 100 recruits" while thinking to myself, ok, so where is the playing time with guys like bacon, Forrest etc already in the fold? I'm thinking Gonzaga or us. Don't think Fsu is out but doubt it's happening. Would love for Chris to jump in and tell us some either good news or bad news on this.

Will Wade was at Chattanooga before going to VCU. A young up and coming coach highly thought of. No surprise that he is getting talent to take a look. CIMD looked at a job with him at Chattanooga.

Plus Malik Beasley a top 50 2015 SG. I'd be surprised Norvell chose FSU.

If I were Zack, I would be thinking about the fact that….

1) Iowa State is next door. Playing at ISU allows his parents an opportunity to see a lot of his games in what is arguably the most electric NCAA men’s basketball environment in the country!!! Every basketball player in the Midwest has heard of Hilton Magic.
2) Prohm’s offensive style fits Zack like a glove not to mention the fact that playing at ISU gives him an enhanced direct pipeline back home to Fred Hoiberg and the Chicago Bulls.
3) Short and long term it’s almost impossible to match the type of opportunity available in Ames.

This has to stop. People are so dumb.
