Complete opinion, without seeing either kid play, so don't bump this when Lake becomes all big 12, but I guess I would prefer Juiston. He just seems to be the more consistent and aggressive guy, that looks to have more basketball talent.

Seems Lake is the tall guy, that is learning to play basketball. Where as Juiston is a basketball player, that is just a little undersized for his skills.

Probably not a game changer. Could be a solid role player with his size and athleticism.

What is his skill level? We've had some tall athletic guys before, that helped very little because that's all they were, big and athletic. Hopefully he's a good rebounded/ defender and can at least finish around the basket.

4pts and 7 rebounds? Seems kinda similar to what we already have on our roster.....
I wouldn't read much into stats from one game. Halsted did a podcast today and I think he said he was averaging a double-double on the year. Also said he's more of a physical inside player rather than a stretch 4 type of player

Here's a little nugget for you all. Hope Prohm is able to fight them off.

Ugg. Really hope we get a good, starting caliber post. Don't want a repeat of this year's post situation.

I understand he might not choose Iowa st, but a JUCO going to KU just seems risky for him. Crowded front court and could easily get recruited over the next year.

Crap. Well, I'm just going to convince myself 'goodbye now to this option' - save myself from any more wishing/anticipation only to be crushed later.

Could be recruited over in the next few weeks.

Proves he must be legit.

He plays in Kansas, but is originally from Jersey, so I'm not sure if there's any extra love for KU. Seems like Jucos are usually more interested in playing time, and opportunity.

Right, JuCo's have 2 years to play so most would want to have a clear opportunity and path to minutes. Prohm should be able to provide both to both the JuCo targets.

Right now KU would have Bragg and Adubze as the penciled in starters not to mention possible other late posts they could add. There are some rumblings that Bragg could leave after the year which could come into play. Still he'd likely be coming in as a back up.

I'll add that previous to the KU offer Alex Halsted mention ISU and Illinois appeared to in the most contact with him. Illinois with their to Rutgers Saturday is likely out of the tourney and Groce was very much on the hot seat all season. Could factor into his decision too.

Update from Shakur after the KU offer. ISU still has his attention. He will be making visits after the season is over but is still wide open.

“One of the schools that’s really recruiting me the hardest is Iowa State,” Juiston said. “[Coach Steve Prohm] has been showing a lot of commitment on trying to get me so I appreciate that a lot.

“They’re just going to use me like they use all their forwards. Their system is four out and one in, so they just say that I could fit into their system. I saw a couple of their games and I could see myself fitting in. They have versatile forwards.”

It's always good when a player says he can visualize himself playing for ISU. It would be interesting to see if he talked about other schools as well. It could be that they edited that out.

Juiston would fit in very well as our next point-forward. Plus he'd have a lot of space to get rebounds. Team him up with Wiggi and Young!

Carter didn't play in place of McKay. Carter played a total of 8 minutes in those two games McKay was out and had 2 points and 0 rebounds 0 blocks 0 assists. Carter couldn't make it on the floor when Prohm was basically pleading for one of the bigs to contribute this year. It's his second year in the program and he doesn't play. If there was some indication of improvement from year 1 to year 2 I would agree with you but so far there hasn't been any.

Kasongo didn't do much at JUCO or Tennessee and reports are that he is doing about the same so far this year. I believe he also attended prep school so I think he is 22 this year. I dont' think there is much hope for him. At most he could maybe be like Holden and give them a couple minutes a game.
I work in Ames and stood next to Ray at Kum n Go and is a big boy like Young. He's 240ibs too. I heard the athleticism is there just need to refine the skills.

Kansas has very very very limited minutes to go around next year if you look at their roster.

Mason - Malik Newman (transfer)
Graham - stays
Svi - should stay
Jackson - Billy Preston ('17 recruit)
Lucas - Azubuike

Bench then is Bragg, Marcus Garrett ('17 guard recruit), the women beater Vick, and Mitch Lightfoot
At this point, any new recruit or transfer would have to be an ELITE talent to even 10+ mpg.
