I'm no expert by any means but I really like the kid from the Kansas Juco that Prohm watched Saturday
Not saying there was a boom. I just thought we didn't know anything and we would see how he did next season. I guess my wait and see approach isn't pessimistic enough to fit within the CF norms? Was there ever a boom to bust?
Juiston is my biggest WANT right now as wellI'm no expert by any means but I really like the kid from the Kansas Juco that Prohm watched Saturday

Lists Iowa State as a team showing interest via article.

Davenport listed these schools that have current offers: FGCU, Georgia Southern, UNG Greensboro, East Tennessee State, Valpo, Arkansas Little Rock, UTEP, Iona, UT-Rio Grande Valley, Murray State, Chattanooga, St. Bonaventure, and Illinois State. He has recently picked up interest from St. John’s, Iowa State, Kansas State, Nevada, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, & Rhode Island.
My want list of JUCOs the staff is currently evaluating
1. Raynere Thornton
2. Shakur Juiston
3. De'Quon Lake
4. Kyvon Davenport
We need to remember the rankings also factor in "potential" and "projection for next year".
I'd agree there aren't many more prepared and producing players in America, definitely not 40. If Wigginton was 6'5" and half a step quicker he'd likely be top 10 in my opinion.
(same case could have been made for Niang and Morris when they were HS seniors.)
So are we looking at Thorton as a garbage man type? Whats the story on him?
Looks like he can rebound at a high rate. Not good 3pt shooter at 28% last year to 22% this year. Would fit right in on FT shooting 48% on 100+ att last year, 59% on 76 attempts this year.
6'6 offers from Georgia, KSU, St. Louis, DePaul.
I'm thinking Juiston is the probably the most Hogue-like of the bunch.
He'd be a nice addition, I think. We don't really have anyone like that.I like what I've read about him. He's my guy. Love to get him for next year.

I definitely agree that Thornton and Juiston seem like the best JuCo players we are targeting. Just curious, what makes you prefer Thornton over Juiston? They seem to be similar in that both can handle the ball well enough at their size to be a point forward/playmaker offensively. Thornton has a stronger build but Juiston seems to be the better scorer of the two. Both are great rebounders from what I've picked up. I think either one would be a great get for us!
On these guys it definitely can be a fine line between getting a mismatch, or even just an effective garbage man, vs getting a tweener with no position. Given we don't have much in the frontcourt and a lot of available scholarships, it seems worth the risk to take a guy that's 6'6" and 230 with a great motor with some ability to handle. I'm a bigger fan of Juiston and his slightly better length and athleticism, but wouldn't object to landing both.6'6" guys that can't shoot free throws are a problem. too small to finish inside, and when they get fouled we get nothing out of it.
Honestly? Thornton has better offers (KSU, Georgia, Saint Louis, etc) and Juiston is still just being evaluated by a bunch of schools. I know that's not super scientific but if schools are confident enough to offer Thornton I take it he's the better player. I do agree tho that either one would be welcome additions to next years squad.
