The thought of how close we were to a 5-2 start is sickening.

I guess we just need to remember our expectations for this season...still a lot of good things that can be done this year.

My ******* god it sucks to be a cyclone fan, we are the unluckiest team ever.

I was thinking tonight that no other team in America is as unlucky at having long rebounds fall into the other team's hands on missed three pointers and free throws than Iowa State. But then we ended up toward the end coming up with some trash boards...too bad they didn't help.

I know we pin everything on McD here, but this is the result of 4 years of learning how to lose. The culture isn't going to change overnight.

It sucks we lost, but I honestly thought we would get schooled on the road. People forget that we really only have 7 guys that we play, and 3 of them are freshmen (albeit 1 RS) and 1 is a guy that this is his first year in the program. People are freaking out like we should start throwing people under the bus.

Look, no one had expectations on this year going into the year and we are FAR exceeding those. I am disappointed we haven't won some of these close ones either, but I'd rather Ejim and Godfrey get experience this year and then next year we have something really special.

We'll be fine. I for one am proud of the way this team plays against teams with deeper benches, more experienced coaches, more "talent, and on the road! I will take this season so far over last year's "We should be good, oh wait, we suck again!" year anyday!

The future is looking good and I think we're heading in the VERY right direction, just some "growing pains" along the way! Hang in there guys, these close loses will turn into close wins, just you wait and see! GO CYCLONES!

I think the tide turned when JVB was taken out after torching them to start the second half. He was stranded at the scorer's table for...4 minutes? This was when they were collapsing on DG who was running the high pick. JVB came back out after being on fire and prompty air-balled a 3-pointer. I know these guys are running ragged, but I think that really killed our momentum when we were about to stomp on their throat.

Still doesn't excuse the complete collapse under the press. I bet they'll be running that in practice this week. Any team that watched this game is going to press us from here on out when they need a defensive stop.

Playing poorly at the end is a symptom of fatigue from having such a short bench. Jake tried to do too much at the end of regulation resulting in some nice baskets, but also two bad and critical turnovers. How can you make that call at the end after looking at the replay especially to put a game out of reach? 22 initiated everything and then flopped. What elbow there was resluted from 22 being draped over Ejim. I could understand the call if a ref just saw that live, but to see it on the replay and still make that call, terrible call. Coach Fred was a lot calmer than I would have been.

I will say.....That techincal was bogus. Grow a par of balls. You could clearly see the OSU guy throw his arm (aka punch) into our guy...

A GOOD ref crew would have said "double fould yada yada.....

Agreed, I think we are easily jumping off the edge because we are having a better than expected start, however we need to realize that before this good start we weren't expecting many wins at all. Of course, it still hurts like hell when we have a lead and it goes away and we lose in OT, but I'm still going to enjoy the ride this year.

Re: Godfrey better start over Ejim Saturday

Ejim >> Godfrey offensively and defensively. Yeah he had a rough game, but Godfrey, Ejim, nor JVB lit the world on fire on the boards or on defense.

Defensively there is no way he is better than Godfrey. That guy flat out hustles. That three to put it into OT was all on Ejim. You have to switch and pull up on a flat out shooter. As Baylor would say hes white and he has a scholarship, he has to shoot. But for Page, he is also under 6 foot. This loss is on the poor passing, defense, and dumb foul on Ejim. Criticize what I say all you want, but he buckled under pressure worse than our walk-on pg who sank two freethrows in regulation to try and put the game out of reach.

Good effort

Lets not destroy anyone. We should have won and we made mistakes. But we play three seniors, a junior, and three freshman, and they leave it all on the floor. Most play the whole game. I think it's pretty impressive how we are playing. We will be ok.

If I ever saw that Keaton Paige in a dark alley, I'd have no problem breaking one of his legs. What a ******. How do you let that guys have a wide open 3 when you're up by 3??
