Hard pass. 63-80 in the Big 12 when he was at Okie State. One win in an NCAA tourney game in six appearances and that was his first year. Last three years he was 8th/6th/9th place finishers and a 19-35 league record. No thanks. He's good where he is at St. Louis.

Thank everyone good Creighton didn't think that way with GMAC. Ford knows what it takes in this conference as good as anyone on any list I have seen. Sometimes a different venue is all someone needs.

Ford would need to recruiting assistants to sell me. Not just hiring him. Saying “he knows what it takes” didn’t help him at Okie State. He was not good at Okie State.

I'm not saying that we should bring Fred back, but I will say that Fred would bring the excitement back for sure. We won't pay Fred $5M to come back though knowing Jamie.

Well "knowing what it takes" is as much/more than anyone else on lists I have seen. And 8 years of head coaching in this league trumps everyone. What assistants do you know that would help?

Good recruiters. Guys that are known to be able to get someone to come play in Ames. Guys with Midwest ties. Try to pull a Cornell Mann out of Missouri. Maybe retain Cain for other regions. Get a Chicago and Minneapolis type recruiter .

5 NCAA tournament in 8 years. 1 NIT. Only 2 losing seasons. 4 NBA draft picks

ISU could have a much bleaker future than what Travis Ford gave OKlahoma State

In 24 seasons of coaching. He only had 3 seasons where he didn’t lose 10 games or more. He lost so much Interest in Oklahoma state basketball when he coaches there. I would rather give someone else a chance. I don’t want to be mediocre like his teams at Okie state were

It's a ****** year for everyone. There's no reason to fire a coach during a pandemic prior to the season ending. It would accomplish nothing. Not a damn thing. TJ can't take the job until the end of the season anyway.

Getting rid of him now would allow us to be first in line for the coaching carousel in April, opposed to entering at the same time as everyone else.

i dont either but i think his odds of "success" at ISU are better than some of the mid major coaches I've seen thrown around. IMO - Ford makes ISU a .500 program. Should we expect better? Absolutely.

I should clarify - Ford is probably not even in my top 5 for wish list coaches but i dont think it was fair to call him "not good" at oklahoma state

To be fair though, he's at UNLV which is a pretty terrible job in and of itself in the last 2 decades. Their "success" is way behind them.
The three years before T.J. the coach won 4, then 8, then 11 games, and he was very successful for 9 years at NMSU. They fired him because they had Beard lined up. When Beard bailed to TTU they had to scramble.

Not to mention T.J. went to SDSU where they had several years of consistent success, he inherited possibly the best player in Summit league history, and they have been very good since he left.

TJ may become a good power conference coach, but his resume as a HC is just OK.
