I’m interested where I’m missing the point.

Everybody playing today has played at least 4 to 6 years of football.

Every coach coaching today has coached many many years of football.

Why do people say the playcalling will improve in game 2? Based on the fact for 60 minutes of football we couldn’t figure out what wasn’t working?

You can’t understand during the game that what isn’t working needs to change and you can’t try to call different plays and you have to wait until the next week to fix it?

Wow!
The reason it will improve is the fact that it can't get any worse than it was today. r/wooosh

Still guaranteed 10 games left in the season. 10 live game practices for the offense for next year, the most expected season in the history of ISU football.

And your D1 level of insightful wisdom came from coaching or playing where?

Is there an OC in the country that is not in a national championship hunt that is worth hiring, because we need to find that guy! We made Iowa look like the Philadelphia Phucking Eagles tonight.

Saying players need to improve or can improve drastically from game one to game two is completely understandable.

Many of these players are young and have never seen this type of action before.

Saying the coaches can improve from game one to game two is complete BS!

Matt Campbell evidently was trying to prove a point today. He should not do that again because he sucks at it.

Worst part about this loss is hearing from all the DMACC grads brag about the hawks all coming week.

Glad I live in Michigan. As long as I ignore Facebook, all I have to worry about is the Fightin' Harbaughs (aka Walmart Wolverines aka Wayne County Community College grads) bragging about how Meechigan is back after pounding Western 49-3 today.

Still cant believe we didnt light up the air against a bad secondary , after it was clear the line was not able to create running lanes for the RBs early in the game.

Some other thoughts
  • Not sure that playing the first game would have made a difference in this game. Our execution may have been better at times (especially the punting!), but it wouldn't have changed the fact that our OL got completely manhandled by Iowa's DL. While the OL should improve throughout the season, today showed that they have a looooooong way to go before they are a championship level OL.
  • Why the change at Center, moving JGJ back to Center and Foster to LT? JGJ look lost on several plays today, which perhaps should be expected since he's been playing LT most of camp. What happened to Newell?
  • At times, it felt like I was watching the ISU offense of 2014 out there, but instead of Sam Richardson getting clobbered, it was Kyle Kempt.
  • Saw some bad body language from several players in the 4th quarter.
  • Iowa may have the best DL we'll face this year, with the possible exception of TCU, and our OL weaknesses were thoroughly exposed. Thankfully, OU's defensive line is not as good. They let UCLA kinda' hang around longer than they should have today. So, there is an opportunity for the staff to take the painful lessons from today and improve to the point where we might be able to sustain multiple drives against OU's defense.
