Purdy's dual threat skill set probably makes more of the playbook possible and probably makes the OL's job a bit easier. Also, giving up 42 points looks bad, but the Cyclone D's 16 TFLs and 7 sacks had OSU off balance most of the day. Add it all up and I actually have some optimism for next week.

Similar things something that have been said in past seasons with other QB. My question, if a QB has a skill set to open up more of the playbook why aren't they starting over someone who is more limited?

Very true, but that’s why it’s been questionable to run RPOs with Kempt and Noland. And the only time we struggled today is when we got restrictive. All three of our QBs have done better when we are aggressive, which only consistently happens when the other team is scoring.
But that’s for another day, and once CMC has more of his guys there’s less pressure on game plans.

Our defense shouldn’t be so feast or famine, but ok st is very good at big plays.

I didn’t see the talent advantage for Ok St the announcers kept referring to. There’s a reason it’s been a shootout for 4 years

We were very closely matched teams.

First game since I bought my new ISU hat. Maybe I need to wear my hat and you need to wear your socks every game? I mean, I'm wearing more than the hat, but you get the idea.

First game I didn't wear anything Iowa State related. Hmmmm.....

Offense 1st Possession:
1st down: Long developing routes, everyone covered. Noland sacked 10 yards.
2nd down: Predictable screen to Jones for 7 yards.
3rd down: Easy pass dropped by Butler.
4th down: Punt.
You must be a real pleasure to watch the game with. One bad series and you are ready to toss them in the dumpster. Fortunately, this team is made of better stuff than you are.

Way up there
The defense did a great job on Hill, I think the big passing numbers were aided by the defense selling out to shut Hill down. The front 7 was lights out.

That makes us just -1 in w/l from last year to make a bowl game as long as we take care of business against the Kansas schools, Tech, Baylor and Incarnate Word. It's not crazy that we'd be the favorite in all of those games.
