Whether or not its the officials fault (which it IS), the national media and the NCAA power programs are EATING THIS CRAP UP! You watch, ISU will keep being pressured from outside forces to remain the bridesmaid but never the bride. People outside Cyclone Nation are ready to eat up our success because we are a good story, but only in the context of us "putting on a good show" for the likes of big money, big market traditional power programs. ISU is expected to keep giving a solid challenge to the big boys but never win, we are only supposed to "showcase" the big time programs, not BEAT them! This is all about the rich get richer, Wake Up Iowa! They want to keep you in your place, which is a challenging exhibition for the "real" big boys, and the powers-that-be will stop at nothing to keep us in our proper place. They don't want to put Iowa State in the pantheon of great programs, and if they ever do so, it will have to be done kicking and screaming. They tried to keep our success framed that way a decade ago and now they are doing the same thing.
just wow.

We could have had the last possession, too. We missed that rebound.

Great game, Cyclones, way to make us proud!

I really think people saying that it would be dumb to foul aren't considering the situation.

25 seconds left. We have the choice to decide the game with our defense, or our offense. Which one would you prefer?

If you foul there is a chance they get zero or one point, but likely they get two. Now we have the ball with 25 second left with the opportunity to send it to OT with 2 or end the game with three. Remember also that two might win it if they miss one of those free throws. The options are win, OT, or lose. But WE decide the outcome and we are playing to our strengths.

If you don't foul they get to go for a buzzerbeater. Keep in mind that even if they miss we might get called for a foul trying to block it and send them to the line. The options are OT, or lose. By not fouling we do not give ourselves the opportunity to win the game in regulation. We only give ourselves the chance to lose. THEY decide the outcome and we are playing to our weaknesses.

The situation clearly favored fouling off their inbounds with :25 left. There is absolutely no question that would have been the better thing to do.

Do people actually believe that their is a nation wide conspiracy to keep Iowa State men's basketball down? I know it sucks losing, but that seems a little much.
I don't think there is a conspiracy but it's very frustrating to see blown calls go against ISU in close games at the end of the game over and over.

The Kansas game was stolen from us. This game OSU won and the officials had a few questionable calls on both sides .

intentionally fouling when the game is tied is the dumbest idea in the history of dumb ideas. You don't give them two free shots with the game tied and on the line. Sometimes things just don't go your way. There is nothing Fred should have done differently strategically at the end. This loss doesn't need to be blamed on someone. We lost to a good team who hit big shots. We played with a ton of heart and I for one am proud of the way our guys fought back. They showed the same resolve they've shown all year.

We will be back.

I almost would preferred to have lost by 10. Tired of this crap. With the bracket we had we could have went to the final 4 with the way we were playing... And not by changing anything but having the rules applied correctly. It's a shame for a program like ISU.

Refs didn't lose the game but it did factor into it. Definitely not intentional but it was a huge call. I'm sure ohio fans would would be complaining the other way too. ISU had too many chances they missed to not take responsibility of the loss.
Ug. Of course OSU would be complaining if the call went the other way....THAT IS THE WHOLE FREAKING POINT WHY WE LOSE CLOSE GAMES!!!! THE REFEREES HAVE A --YES, UNINTENTIONAL--BIAS TO NOT BLOW THE CALL IN A WAY TO ENDANGER THEIR CAREER. You blow a call against ISU now....no biggy, they are classy and will let it slide. You blow a call against OSU, Kansas, Michigan, basketball Kentucky, etc....and it is a career ender. That non-blocking call was MUCH more important than you minimalist understand. I am not a Charles Barkley fan, but he gets it. That was the game. That was the money moment when we all knew that it was over. Referees were not going to blow a close game in our favor. Duh..... If you want things to change, get mad. If you think just clapping and nodding is OK, then keep posting that referees don't impact a game in a negative way against us.

I don't believe you ever give the opponent a chance to win at the line. If fred had fouled and we lost, this board would be going crazy about the terrible decision.

It's not so much calls against ISU as it is for the big-dog programs..

Gosh. Sounds like we will get another apology from the refs for blowing another call at a crucial time in the game.

I don't agree or disagree... either way could have gone good or bad... its horrible predicament, I think maybe in that position I would've fouled craft based on his free throw shooting towards the end of that game... but not fouling wasn't a bad decision... and really, craft is an awful 3 point shooter, that's probably what we wanted... it totally sucks to lose, especially like that... but damn, there really is no right decision there...

I HATE this season being over. But Im tired of the same ****** refereeing calls all the time, so Im glad it over. No one, NO ONE on even ground could beat us this year if the boys were gaming.

Respectfully I disagree. I told my wife on the inbounds that I thought we'd foul to keep them from draining a buzzer-beater. They hit a buzzer-beater and we have no chance to tie or win. We give them 2 and put he ball in our court and I like our chances much better.

How much does it cost to have the refs on our side in the last min. of the game?

If you don't know then you can't afford it

Got the charge called against us versus Ohio State. Got he block called against us during Kansas. Seems kind of ridiculous, but the call today was definitely much less blatant than the one versus Kansas.

Grab the last rebound and we got the last shot instead of OSU and Craft. One rebound made just as big a difference as the call at the other end.
