90% of the time, I think a change is certainly necessary. other times, I look around the ncaa and wonder what a change really means. look at an example like John Beilin at Michigan. the guy was a super stud coach at WVU and his teams struggle at Michigan. so, is it this just 'fit'? maybe mcd really is a great coach, but ISU is just not a great fit. i don't know - i'm rambling. it is just really disheartening what is happening with ISU bball right now.
Why? AD's aren't supposed to have anything, except winning as their driving force everyday. That, and making money in the athletic program of said university. Football and men's basketball pay the bills, that's it. We have sports that help out, but don't net anything. Jamie took a chance on an Iowa guy. Greg's a great person, he just is at the bottom of a %^$storm, and I don't htink there is a way out. This AD made the mistake of giving him a contract not based on performance, but potential, and he'll pay a price for that, too.
WHat was attendance like tonight?

I say bring Greg and the boy's back for one more year(CB included) and let's see what happens.. Can it get much worse? NO!
I think you are right there...Gmac IS a good coach. He's just been snake bit and I'm afraid he won't get it turned around. You hand the keys to a top notch program to Greg he'd win and win big..problem is a guy like him at a place like ISU means he's got to have some luck, some breaks to go his way. Needless to say....
I'm sort of blown away at the anger toward Greg's actual coaching ability...the problem is we still don't have any talent. People think we have talent but I promise you we do not have talent on this team. We've been outmatched in the talent department all season long against nearly every Big 12 team. You can certainly blame part of that on Greg but just because SC throws a pass at Dendy's ankles does not mean Greg is a bad coach.

Let's see - we have a chance to win at the end of regulation and we don't get a shot off. Then with 11 seconds left in OT with another chance to win, we throw a toe pass on a break that goes out of bounds. And to top it off, we allow the guy to dribble the length of the floor for the winning shot without having to pass the ball.
Back when we won conference titles our defense was stellar. We battled to stay close until the last five minutes, then we out-executed the opponent. Until we get that mentality back, we will keep losing close games.
No offense, but you should never be a coach. You really think a coach's job isn't to make his players better? Give me a ******* break.
I know that Billy G is a decent coach and could bring in some " real talent" ( not this MVC type caliber talent) but I could see him jumping ship once he gets a top bcs talent job offer.
Is there anyway a buyout can be negotiated or go through any type of arbitration?
