Wasn't even their point guard, but the guy had made 2 circus shots already? And, Greg chooses to let Gilstrap run next to him and matador the thing away. Brilliant!

Did I say, if I were a coach? Actually I have been a coach and have won more games than you have played. Not the point; not even close. The coach's job is to put the best players in the best position to be successful. You may call it making them better but I call it enabling to players to be successful.

The problem here failure of execution. Players in the wrong position. Players not finishing. I expect that if John Wooden was on the sideline and Craig go the ball down low and missed; everyone would kill Craig. Since it is Greg McD., it has to be the coaching that lead to the brain fart (twice)! And to start OT.

Everyone keeps saying this is Craig's team. Where is the leadership? It is not just this game. Let me repeat my point. Craig is not ready for the NBA. He hasn't show it all year. Anyone who keeps saying to jump ship will see him, at best, warm the bench for a couple of years. And that is because you cannot teach height.

A coach's job is to teach, show, and get the most out of his players he can and make them improve while winning games. End of story.

If you give Craig **** for not being able to do this and that, why don't you blame the coaching staff too that's had him for 3 years? If they were so good at coaching, a lot of the questionable shots Craig takes might not happen and he might be a better shooter? Maybe? He might get to the free throw line more, learn how to play HIS POSITION CORRECTLY, etc.

Here nor there
-Beilein got Michigan to the second round last year.

-Losing close games at the end is a product of poor guard play, and our best players not knowing how to play tough and smart. Indirectly, this is on McD.

It's going to have to be, cause Greg had money 'til 2015? He's going to have to want out of Ames, and I wouldn't blame him. He'll have to give, otherwise Pollard is gonna get raped.

I think you are right there...Gmac IS a good coach. He's just been snake bit and I'm afraid he won't get it turned around. You hand the keys to a top notch program to Greg he'd win and win big..problem is a guy like him at a place like ISU means he's got to have some luck, some breaks to go his way. Needless to say....

I'm sort of blown away at the anger toward Greg's actual coaching ability...the problem is we still don't have any talent. People think we have talent but I promise you we do not have talent on this team. We've been outmatched in the talent department all season long against nearly every Big 12 team. You can certainly blame part of that on Greg but just because SC throws a pass at Dendy's ankles does not mean Greg is a bad coach.

who recruited this "talent" for the last 4 years...EXACTLY.

Is there anyway a buyout can be negotiated or go through any type of arbitration?

Depends on how important the perception of resigning vs. being fired is to Greg. If he is fired, he walks away with $2.5M. If he "resigns," then it's because they have negotiated the buyout down. I think if I was McDermott, at this point I'd rather be fired and take the money. It's not like it is some secret that he wouldn't be ****-canned if he didn't resign.

Re: Murphey's law?

we had 14 wins...it can get worse, and probably would. And some of you would still want this incompetent "coach" back. Why not get started on the rebuilding and be potentially another year closer to the NCAA tourny instead of another wasted year further away.
No, now we have have to circle the wagons, find out who's in and who's out, and then fight like hell. Never give up...

Interesting how Pollard is once again a victim of himself. Everyone seems to be blaming Coach Mac for running the B-ball program into the ground; but isn't this another brilliant move by J.P. Don't let him off the hook for the results produced by his hire...

this is definitely on Pollard too, especially the extension. I have and continue to be a Pollard supporter but it is waning. He needs to right this ship fast.

He's recruited plenty of talent...losing much of that talent is NOT all his fault. Look, I understand any opinion beyond FIRE GMAC TONIGHT will be ridiculed on here but seriously. Just admit the man is a good coach who gets his kids to play hard but has just had some terrible freaking luck. You want him gone, great but stop acting like every single thing that's gone wrong is 100% Greg's fault.

You make a good point, but I still like JP. This hire (GM) is the only one that I really fault him for. Chizik looks bad in retrospect, but at the time everyone thought that was a homerun. I never felt that GM was a good fit at ISU. PR seems to have turned out ok. I am willing to give JP one more chance to get it right in BB.

what are you basing your claim that he is a "good coach" on? his record at UNI? i would argue that that was his assistant with the goods. good coaches win.
