I'm starting to wonder if the guy might know what he's doing...you know...just a little
No Prohm still sucks, we sucked in January, and fans that were freaking out like crybabies were the ones that understand basketball. Those of us pointing out the rough patches EVERY recent ISU team has hit were just showing our ignorance.

I mean, it's not like Prohm actually looked back at the early stuff and said the team really didn't look very good then. Oh wait. He did. How about that?

I like that we realized the sweet spot offensively was getting some short uncontested jumpers. If we would try for some layups we might get blocked or nudged but we could get the ball into the paint and take an uncontested high percentage shot. Nice balanced attack overall.

It was SO NICE to have a late-shot-clock, desperation 3 fall FOR IOWA STATE when so many fall against us.

No matter what, Naz has been a GREAT Cyclone!

Yeah, that was desperation, but nowhere near as bad a shot as Marshall hit for Nevada. That was a freaking prayer.

Actually I think Nevada was over seeded, really unimpressed. Not sure where the 2 or 3 pros were on Nevada. There isn't an NBA player on Nevada, I have no idea what everyone was talking about. Maybe some Europe type guys but nothing even close to NBA level. Clones played their worst half since Texas and still won going away.

I like the Purdue matchup a lot, reminds me of those clods from Notre Dame a few years ago. Slow, no idea how Purdue can guard anyone we have.

I'm going to go ahead and say you are very confused.

Not saying there were pros all over NV's team but their big was as tricky as anyone ISU saw all year, Marshall got his despite being gloved all night, and I can't think of anyone who's as big of a nuisance in the Big 12 as Caroline was.
NV also waited until the 2nd half to sell out on defense which put ISU in some tough spots.

Purdue isn't going to be ND '13. ISU will need to be very crisp on offense.

We weren't very good in Jan. no one is arguing that. The point is every team under Prohm and Fred at ISU had a bad stretch. Even the team with Kane and Ejim played poorly for a stretch that included getting totally blitzed in Morgantown. I should've been more clear, but I don't mind fans pointing out problems, but we had the people on here that had decided this team was lazy and lacked leadership. They made up their mind that Prohm was in over his head and seemed to almost relish the losses.

Unless you are a blue blood, almost every team in America has a bad stretch st dome point during the season.

I realize this topic has gone beyond the dead horse stage but how ****** up is it that people get so wrapped up in their own idea of who ought to coach ISU basketball that they spend months or years camping out for an "I told you so" that is probably likely blow up in their face?

I think it might be a problem unique to ISU, I've not seen it elsewhere.

Great win. The thing that was most encouraging was that they didn't play their best game and still won. They had some really bad turnovers and bad possessions and Morris sat a lot. Also, Jackson and Bowie continued their strong bench play. Morris had one of the best games of the tournament yesterday and didn't even play his usual amount of minutes.

Just curious, when have been happy as a Cyclone fan?

I get so tired of our fans claiming to be happy about wins only to constantly gripe and whine or put down the team.
He's not 'our fan." He's a Hawkeye. He probably should be banned for it, but idk what this site's rules on false identies are.

All aboard the hype train! I have ISU going at least to the final four in all of my brackets. For not playing very well last night in my opinion we beat a team who is pretty talented. For those of you who don't think Nevada has at least one NBA player on their team, you are crazy, I don't think Caroline is an NBA player but Oliver is going to have a long career in the NBA, the dude was a freak. Athletic as hell and could shoot the ball somehow, even though it looked like garbage coming off his hand, just think if he got better off the dribble. I haven't watched Nevada play except for last night but they were shooting every three they possibly could and the shots they took were awful especially in the first half. I can't count the amount of times I said, "keep letting him shoot that" while watching the game.

For those of you who aren't worried about Purdue??? What? Yes, Iowa beat them by 5 at home and Purdue could hit the backboard from outside 2ft. Purdue beat Iowa at home by 22 because their 3 pt shooters were $$$. I don't think the key to winning on Saturday is going to be stopping their big men because they are probably going to get some easy buckets no matter what. It looked like Vermont forced Purdue's monsters down low into a lot of offense fouls though, so hopefully we can do the same, but the key is going to be our 3pt defense or Purdue's ability/lack of ability to make 3s. We have much better guard play so hopefully we show up on both ends of the floor. Obviously, another key will be Deonte. Deonte needs to play like he did in the second half against Gonzaga's big man, if he does that, we are tough to beat.

ISU 73 - Purdue 68

I missed the BIG 12 tourney this year so when we get back to KC I'll see you there!!! I just so happened to have already planned a trip to Phoenix during the final four. "Call me" when you get there Cyclones!
