How long have these guys played together? 4 freaking games. People here need to back off or better yet go ahead bad jump off the ledge now so we don't have to hear your ********.
Pretty soon people are going to be saying, "Seriously guys, they've only been playing together for 20 games, give them a break."
We just barely beat a ****** Northern Colorado team. If we didn't have a record night from 3 point range, we might have lost.
Our defensive effort and overall laziness is frustrating as hell to watch. Those two things doesn't require team chemistry.

we won, we are talented. I think the motivation will come with competition. Winning with talent and lack of motivation>losing with effort and "heart"

It didn't come against Drake. I was hoping that game-o-poop would wake them up to the fact that their poor effort won't always trump the less-talented teams. Apparently not.

A lot more questions going into this season than I originally thought after all the hype around these guys. Think we do miss Lutz tremendously. Still believe, as it is early...

GO CLONES!!

I didn't think our offense looked that great. Making 16 3s against a crappy opponent...sure. No way a decent defensive team is going to let us have the looks we got tonight. We need more movement, lots of waiting around the arc going on out there...

10-8-7 for Royce.

I bet he gets at least one triple-double this year.

Hey... let's give him an award. He got a single double against Northern Colorado. Big deal.

This team is lazy, undisciplined, plays dumb (like giving up a conventional 3 pt play near the end so UNC could cut the lead to 2 possessions again), and no defense.

We are a team that jacks up tons of 3's and that's all we are right now. Got absolutely OWNED in the paint (yes, that's you Royce), play with no passion or hustle, and no defense.

If I played against us, I'd press the heck out of us. We have nobody that can dribble or pass it up against the press IMO.

We are VERY lucky we were hitting 3's tonight. If we shot like we did against Drake, we'd have lost by double digits tonight easily.

I want him to succeed badly but I just don't think Freddy will succeed at a head coach. Just not his personality.

Yeah... I'm starting to think that the players are playing with the same kind of passion as their head coach... non-existant.

I hope these two things don't get him in trouble:

1- Doesn't see value in playing D. I hope that is not the case, but I'm starting to think there's a chance of this.

2- He's too calm/nice to "motivate" kids to hustle defensively and rebounding the ball. I pray that isn't the case.

That laid back style is probably much more common in the NBA and can work there because the players are all professional, older and more mature. With 18-20 y/o's it might not be as effective.

Fred has got to raise his voice to the refs and players sometime. I know he doesn't want to ruin his nice reputation he has in Ames, but good God it's okay to yell and be like Paul Rhoads sometimes.

I still believe in this team. As long as we can keep the losses at a minimum while we're figuring things out we'll be OK.

I'm still hopeful this team will be solid come February. Hopefully it's not too late.

Plus the Big 12 isn't great this year. Just gotta keep playing and improving. Practicing last year on the scout team is a completely different animal than playing real games against real coaches game planning against you. The trip this weekend will be a good thing for this team. Hopefully we go 2-0.

Somewhere in the U.S.
36 of 61 ISU shots were 3 point attempts ....nearly 60 per cent.

ISU made 28 baskets......16 3 pointers, only 12 from 2 point range.

A good stat.....those 28 baskets came off 22 assists.

Still.....if they play the defense this poorly....I don't see how they beat UNI, Iowa, Providence or Michigan.....and maybe not Rice. We'll see.

Since when does defensive effort require chemistry? I didn't say defensive execution, but effort. Getting a hand in the shooters face. Moving your feet on defense. Fighting through/around screens. Hustling for rebounds.
Those don't require chemistry. Any unlazy person can do those things. This team just looks unmotivated and lazy on defense.
