Yeah, now that you've mentioned it. It coulda been 1920 or 21. I hate misprints!Plus it says 1st block since 2022.
Was it '20, maybe?
Massive-fail Tweet, that one.
wow, I missed that typo.It also said the West Virginia game was December 5 (although it was still on the list between October 29 and November 12)
The reasoning would be to prevent counter adjustments at half by the other team. Drove me bonkers for a bit but I can appreciate the reasoning. The point return schemes where we neither block nor rush drive me nuts though.I’ve just never understood why you can’t make adjustments before halftime. Last season was maddening in that regard.
Cut out all analysis and run commercials instead then you can actually show the gameThe ESPN experience:
+ Paying billions for rights to college football games, then thinking “gee, how do we make a profit on this deal?”
+ Putting more games on ESPN+, along with the graphics mistakes/lower quality production that entails (although overall the Iowa State/SEMO broadcast was pretty good)
+ Loading up broadcasts with unending waves of media timeouts to get those ads in
+ Missing multiple plays of live games while running commercials instead
+ When an epic blocked extra point with no time remaining decides a prime-time matchup, refusing to show a replay of the block until after on-field interviews and several minutes of bloviating … then not even having a decent camera angle of the block to show. Apparently too busy having their camera operators scan the crowd for reaction shots instead.
Admittedly, Fox’s FS1 broadcast of the Iowa game wasn’t much better, with the feed freezing up at least twice, not to mention the announcers’ references to Iowa‘s “new-look offense” (what planet do you live on to think a thing like that?).
I had to step away from screen immediately after that play, so I didn't realize the delayed-replay. That's a poor coverage decision. When an epic blocked extra point with no time remaining decides a prime-time matchup, refusing to show a replay of the block until after on-field interviews and several minutes of bloviating … then not even having a decent camera angle of the block to show. But did you wear Cyclone gear to the game?OMG, I was there. The Petras/BF combo was roundly booed at least 15 times by his home crowd. Never seen something like that in a season opener, at home, against an FCS team. As a Cyclone fan, it was obviously hilarious. I think Hawk fans left that game a little overconfident in their D, as they are desperate for a bright spot -- we can expect them to present a solid linebacker core next week, though.
It was good for us today to have a tale of two very different halves on offense. They will need to pick their poison. Their CBs barely got tested today. The only thing I worry about is that it's going to be really loud for Dekkers and the OL. Without looking at the stats, I'd guess SDSU had at least 7 false starts today.
Iowa State produces its own content for ESPN+, leveraging what they built for Cyclones.Tv; same with other schools. I watched the replay and thought they did a good job. Give our history, they may want to add cameras for more replays angles though! The ESPN experience:

He might not have shiftiness but Dekkers has shown he can take off and runI think Dekkers knows he doesn't have the mobility that Purdy has and doesn't try to pretend that he does. From the one time I saw him escape the pocket, tuck the ball and run with it, to me it looks like he has the mobility to escape a dead play and make something out of nothing, but not the mobility to extend plays like Purdy did. You're not going to see Dekkers try to make a defender eat a pump fake 20 yards past the LoS (and succeed most of the time) - but you're also not going to see Dekkers dig his grave even deeper trying to extend a dead play like Purdy would do sometimes, either.
Grant Treiber. Watching the replay, I thought he played really well.Who started at Right Tackle?
Thanks for the info. That is great to hear that Treiber was ready and we didn’t have to move a guard outside like last year.Grant Treiber. Watching the replay, I thought he played really well.
If I remember correctly, when Downing was day to day two years ago he wasn’t even at games so this may be a positive sign.Just one odd observation from the ESPN+ broadcast…
Rewatching, I noticed they lingered on the sidelines a bit, and I noticed a few more players in sweats than I would have expected—Tristan Michaud for one.
And Jake Remsburg was wearing a huge brace, and visibly limping heavily.
If Randy was right about it being an MCL, I’ve been through that. My orthopedic surgeon explained to me how they vary greatly, depending on the shape and form of the tears…but the only time I limped that badly was right after it happened.
“Day to day” indeed.
