Probably been said already, but I really liked the broadcast crew for the game! Pxp guy Shawn Keeney was just fine to very good, I thought. Loved the color guy, our own Todd Doxzon! He's very good also. Of course I liked Todd's football knowledge and his ISU slant, which I thought he did very professionally.

Can't always say an espn+ crew is good. This one was.

did you watch the game?

Yes . I replayed the FG play. I assume we are talking about 2nd quarter. It went the full distance from about 42 yards and was wide right. We’ve had kicks go short from that distance unblocked. Announcers did not call it a blocked FG. There was penetration by DL, so not impossible, but usually a blocked kick doesn’t go through the end zone. Your pic refers to blocked punt and blocked FG. I wish there was a better replay to see it for sure. I suppose at the stadium, someone was congratulated after the play, but that was not shown on TV. If there was really a blocked kick , then I agree that ST was good yesterday. There is a dedicated ST coach now, so I was hoping for progress this year.

OMG, I was there. The Petras/BF combo was roundly booed at least 15 times by his home crowd. Never seen something like that in a season opener, at home, against an FCS team. As a Cyclone fan, it was obviously hilarious. I think Hawk fans left that game a little overconfident in their D, as they are desperate for a bright spot -- we can expect them to present a solid linebacker core next week, though.

It was good for us today to have a tale of two very different halves on offense. They will need to pick their poison. Their CBs barely got tested today. The only thing I worry about is that it's going to be really loud for Dekkers and the OL. Without looking at the stats, I'd guess SDSU had at least 7 false starts today.
I really don't understand why anyone would want to QB for Iowa. The fans treat them like crap.

Was there and it was in front of us, it was definitely blocked.

Good win but let's not undervalue just how bad SEMO is.
They had a great game plan, however. They must have worked on that 5-yard turnout pass over and over and over and over because they sure had it perfected. And it is hard to defend if the QB is that accurate with it. That QB was also a good scrambler and he had some big, reliable receivers. I thought they were better than we thought they would be.

I don't know what some of you guys want. It's college football, it's not going to be perfect. Defense was fine, everything was fine, stuff to clean up yes, but that's always the case.
I am very hopeful for this team this year. They could win a lot of games.

One thing we as fans need to be aware of though, I think. We, to some degree, think we should win most all of our games now. That is a credit to Campbell and the 5 star culture. We won't be able to do that most years! Not all of them. Other teams in this league are very good also. Our recruiting, though light years better than it was, is still not elite. We will lose some games we should lose and some we shouldn't. Unfortunately.

But I understand the mentality, I want to win all the games too. Rooting for ISU football is so much funner than it was! Thankful for that!
