Pump the breaks a little here buddy. If this becomes a pattern then sure, but this is the first player (i believe)who has just quit or transferred. By all indications, the players love CPR. This is nothing like McDermott(yet).

Rogers?
Jensen?
Edit: (also) Bevins?

I agree with what has been said by many. From a tactical standpoint, not sure if a ton is lost. Campos is going to be the guy for the next 3 years, and he certainly has the potential to be a great one. However, it such an odd occurrence for someone to go through 2 a days, spring ball, etc. to quit before the second game. Something is amiss, and you worry about CPR's ability to keep his players respect/focus.

Has to be this. I don't know how you put in all of the work and effort as a redshirt, and later as a backup, just to reach your final season of football EVER, and be a starter on a major conference team with 50,000+ watching you, and quit after the first game.

But as others have said, if he's not in it for whatever reason, then it's probably best to get out of the way.

Feel free to believe me or not, but I believe he is more focused on his future career and finding that job than he is with playing football. Can't imagine someone going to school for computer science had plans of going to the NFL (he would have done something much easier than CompSci if that was the case). Game wasn't fun for him anymore, he was more interested in his education and future career, and probably thought at this point he was doing the team a disservice by playing at less than 100% because the game is no longer his focal point.

I wouldn't read into this any further than that. If it (his disinterest) is, in any way, due to coaching problems I would think this is a remnant of the Klenakis era and has nothing to do with Mangino/Blaney.

In b4 the Brandon needs to pump the oline, Louie needs to find holes for the rbacks, Tommy needs to get wide receivers open, Todd needs to build qb confidence, Mark needs to utilize his TEs, Wally better get the lbs in the right spot, Shane needs to recruit some DL, Stan needs to get some DE sacks, and Maurice needs to talk targeting to the secondary, and Yancy, you need 70 players lifting more than 500. When are tryouts starting again? :spinny:

agreed. For the "if you start something, finish it!" crowd, you don't want to see the results of someone going through the motions on the offensive line. That's a good way to get your quarterback hurt.

I agree with this...to a certain extent. However, I still believe in the "if you start something, finish it" work ethic. For whatever reason, this young man isn't quitting on the fans, or his boss (the coaches). He's quitting on his teammates. He spent all spring and summer training with these guys, and with the new coaches. The time to quit would have been earlier, before the line was drilled based on the expectation that he would be in that position.

He's not injured, so (to me) the only thing that would make it okay for him to dump on his teammates like that would be a family emergency. I understand that having someone that doesn't want to be there can be dangerous. I'm just saying that (barring extenuating circumstances) he should have made this decision earlier.

This is NOT good for a number of reason. I watched two scrimmages this year and let me say the gap from one to the other is huge. Not good. Beginning of the end.

what I mean is overall IMO the gap between 1st and say 3rd team is substantial. Hope Campos is ready as he should be. What worries me is we cannot afford to lose anyone else on the line.

Nobody who's ever taken Econ 101 thinks this way.

Rumor on one of the pay boards that the players "hate Rhoads" and one of the players that left (I assume Jensen) had to be begged to come back. Said he talks them up in front of the camera but belittles them off camera. Take it for what it's worth.

If true, JP needs to be walking around.

Can't really put my finger on it..... but I have this feeling in my gut that you don't like Rhoads

Yea, I mean it's just a coincidence that a player walks out of practice and quits the team after being beat down by and FCS school that will be 1 of the easiest games on the schedule and after what happened last year.

For those keeping score at home, out of our 4 senior offensive linemen, 1 quit, 2 have had career ending injuries, and the 4th is Farniok who has to play with a strained MCL.
