Omaha is 11th in the 247 composite and projected as a top 5 pick in some mocks in 2024. So he cant get too much higher.

Tyrese Halliburton is a pretty crazy case. I didn’t pay attention to recruiting backgrounds. I went to the Mizzou game and he just absolutely stood out. I don’t think he had crazy stats but he just did EVERYTHING right on both ends of the court and was just great.

As an nba fan I instantly thought Tyrese was by far ISU’s best prospect since Fizer in his first ISU game, just blows my mind people do it for a job and said 3*. I hesitated to say it at time because threads like this would kill me, but it was obvious.

With Omaha I mean he’s probably #6 instead of #11 if you put a Duke brand on it. The explosiveness just makes the 5* a no brainer even without the brand name.

Of course we can compare Omaha to nba players when I frequently see less talented and more raw rookies, it doesn’t mean he’s going to start in the nba in a couple years, but those are the relevant player comps.

That was Harrison's sophomore year when they lost. One loss was bc coach downs took his foot off the gas and started to play keep away vs Marshalltown at Ankeny in the substrate final. They went 53-0 his Jr and Sr years

Yeah I was referring to Waukee losing twice that year. Still shocks me Ames didn’t make state HB’s sophomore year. That team also had Jordan Burgason who played at Lipscomb. Jesse Pritchard was also really good that year.

Haliburton should had been #1 or 2 in his class.

Just saw the Murphy's Law segment on this dunk. That there was enough blowback to this that he felt he needed to address it on air is astounding.

Personally I'm anti-taunting and there's a point at which showboating goes too far - I'm talking the celebration after, not the dunk itself - but this is a nothingburger relative to what happens in sports pretty much everywhere these days.

There is a segment of the Iowa fan base that calls our basketball team thugs whenever we beat them, and I saw a little of that on Twitter Friday night talking about this dunk. Pretty gross stuff and it's gone on for years.

Iowa fan base is largely vile racists. So is their coaching staff in football and you’ve got to wonder with Fran. All of their hate is directed at blacks. They didn’t call Haluska a thug when he transferred. Didn’t refer to Jaz as a thug when he transferred here. Pryce Sandfort could have done the same thing in the game and they would have celebrated this like they do Connors behavior. It’s right there in plain sight, guys.

The butthurt from Biliews dunk is glorious. I hope he gets a chance to throw one down and taunt the crowd in CHA. I know he'd need to stay 2 years for that, but a guy can dream.

agreed. thanks for the link. I have no issue with it, but think there does need to be some clarification on what gets a T. I've been holding my breath through conference play with the "too short" flex and Caleb's Timeout call.

I think it's fun and good, but just don't want an untimely T to derail a close game and I have very little confidence in refs to not do just that.

I think it has everything to do with the fact that he's going to ISU and that he is so freaking good. They can't stand that. Race has nothing to do with it. And by "They", the I mean the five douchebags on Twitter. And last I checked, Twitter is nothing but douchebags all around. Five or six people( douchebags) criticized Omaha? On Twitter? Who ******* cares?

I am not certain these two things are mutually exclusive. It’s very well about both.

There is a post on the Iowa Rivals site that asked if Omaha is a good student. That post isnt made if he isnt AA.

I don't know for certain, but I highly doubt Sanford could have done that...

I saw nothing wrong with the dunk. They were up big near the end of the game and the crowd seemed to enjoy it. Not often around here you see a kid with that kind of athletic ability be able to pull off a dunk like that. My wife saw the highlight and thought he was showboating which led to some debate in our house but my opinion is the kid made an incredible dunk and his peers and most of the crowd seemed to have enjoyed it so what was the harm. What if he had doinked it, we would not even heard a peep about it I bet.

It trickles down. Pro>college>highschool>youth
I know my 7/almost 8 yo son started to do 'the griddy' (even though it was clear he had no idea what he was doing) just by seeing other kids his age do these things as he's not really watching a ton of pro sports or playing fortnite for himself.

I shut that down pretty quickly though :)

People will call me old school, but I could have done without it. They were up big and he was cherry picking big time. He had been doing it a couple of possessions at that point looking for a run-out. The celebration afterwards perhaps a little much too. You risk getting teed up for that.

That said, the level of outrage by college fans about a high school game and taking it to such personal levels with obvious racial undercurrents is a way bigger problem.

If it were the other coach getting pissed about it after the game i would understand it. There are unwritten rules violated here (like why Waukees coach had not pulled him at that point). But a college fan base? Get out of here.

First off he was not cherry picking. Northwest was running a full court press and he was the press break on the right side.
The only question I have that you brought up was "Why is he still in the game". Risking injury up 20 with a minute left was kind of head scratching.
