this is the most pathetic poor ol lil isu thread

i ever read! Good grief, you all have the Hawks made out to be a cinch for the Final Four. Lets be sane about this, this so proclaimed invincible Iowa team needed a big run to get to 24 points at the half against UNI. If Garrett is healthy or out of his funk whichever it is, ISU will do fine. I do belive this is coach Mac's biggest game so far. 7-2 looks alot better than 6-3. It should be a heck of a game which i hope the refs dont determine with their whistles.

where is all the game chatter?

Register had a decent article on keys to the game along with coach comments.

Our 3 point shooters are going to launch shots. That goes without saying. They might make a lot. They might make none. BUT, the key to this game for ISU is GARRETT. Garrett needs to dribble drive, he needs to find the open shooter or post player, he needs to have sharp entry passes to Brackins, and he needs to limit his turnovers. Maybe it isn't fair to expect that from a sophmore but that is the reality of this team. If Garrett doesn't do those things, we lose.

The Hawks are going to beat our 'soft' patooties on the inside.

After the UNI game, I thought the Hawks could never handle Brackins. Then I watched the Drake game and he really was a non-factor.

I hope UNI Brackins shows for this game.

Craig does not have the inside game mentality.

imagine him with Homan's desire?

I don't know if it's in the game plan, or if we have the athletes for it yet, but I think Iowa can be pressed. I'd love to see us put the press on a couple of times after made baskets/timeouts to cause some turnovers.

Drake gave the blueprint to all of the teams we play from here on out. The key to this game and all games is Craig Brackins. If we launch 33 tres a game and only go the line only 6 times....yikes...

I wish we would run more motion offense like Texas Tech, and not as much on-ball screening stuff. I think it would put more pressure on the defense, make them work a little harder, open up passing lanes, and create more open shots.

You are right. They did give the blueprint. But it also gave our staff an example of what not to do when your shooting is hot. You can't just abandon the inside game. In fact, when your shooting is hot, that is when the inside game should open up. You should be able to fake with your shooters, draw defenders and hit the entry pass. We didn't do that. Everyone just stood around waiting for another three ball.

I think we'll be more prepared after the Drake game for similar situations. If we aren't, that is on the coaches.

I thought the exact same thing. The Drake defenders were totally set up for a faked three, and an entry pass to CB for a dunk. If we could make this happen, and make CB pass out of a double/triple team to the wing for three, we would be much better.

OK, so the take on this thread is Iowa winning. So, with that majority, would you take free tickets from a Hawk season ticket holder who can't make the game, even though nearly all of you think it will not be a good game for ISU? It would be about a 75 minute drive (which is the same distance for me to Ames, and I am a ticket holder). Do I take the risk?

Just as a side note, I think it will be ISU in a scorching 50-48 victory.

Of course you do it! What reason would you have for passing up the chance to support your Cyclones and be a friendly face in an unfriendly arena? Good grief. YES. Put on all the cardinal things you own, and go to the game! Cheer loud, and if we win, great! If not, you did the best you could.

Brackins is a very nice player, but nobody is going to triple team him.

OK, ok. I will go. Actually, I was not really ever considering NOT going. Just wanted to test the loyalty in this thread, because overall, the loyalty blows.

I wouldn't. I've had a boycott on Iowa City since 2001 when Seneca beat Iowa for their only loss. We had to drive home at midnight because redneck Iowa fans kept starting fights with us everywhere we went.
