From an unbiased position, this is what I see. Kozma got under the ball with ordinary effort, but the infield fly call came way too late.

O trust me, I've seen every angle of the play about 20 times. Maybe I'm a bit biased, but it still didn't seem like ordinary effort, and he definitely didn't camp. But yes, it was undeniably called much too late.

Did you watch the video at all?

Yankee fans since I was a little kid watching Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford. 2013 looks to be an ughly year, maybe something like the last place teams of 1966 and 1990 but without that many loses. Favorite players on that 1966 last place team were Mantle and Mel Stottlemeyer. The 1990 team was Don Mattingly. 1990 was so bad that Andy Hawkins pitched a no-hitter and lost 4-0 to White Sox. I had a standing token $1 a game bet with a White Sox fan at work. He, of course, framed the dollar bill and hung it in his office. This year favorites, on what looks to be a ****** team, has to be the old guys, Jeter and Rivera.

Also I would like to note that the Braves would have still been down by 2 runs if I remember correctly

Letting opposing pitchers go yard isnt a good way to start a title defense ...

Absolutely. Today was a horrible way to start the season. Cain did quite well, getting himself out of some trouble here and there. But Kontos coughed up the homer to Kershaw, which (if I heard this correctly) was his first home run EVER. Then Casilla proved why he lost his closing job last season. It's just game one of 162, but that's not a good sign for the relief pitching. I will say this, though: considering last season was the SF Giants' worst start since moving from New York, they still ultimately took the WS title. Never count out an excellent manager and a team that knows how to play together with great chemistry.

I'm a Twins fan. But I am really only interested if they are winning. I followed them pretty closely when they were making it to the playoffs every year and winning the division (until the Oklahoma State football game the best sports event I have ever been to was a Twins season finale where they won and Kansas City beat Detroit in extra innings which allowed the Twins to win the Division. The Twins had gone on a pretty good run in September to even get in the playoffs and Detroit was ahead something like 7-1, but Kansas City came back to win. The Twins game was done and they put the Detroit game on the big screen after the game. Really, really fun day.)

So basically I won't be following baseball this year.

I'm a Dodgers fan mainly because of my dad. Also, my first real memory of a World Series was 1988 with Gibson hitting that home run off Eckersley in Game 1. I was only 5 years old but I remember that moment.

Yankees fan here. It's all my Dad's fault, he raised me that way. Don Mattingly was my favorite as a kid. I always wore my Yankees hat to little league practice and all of the Royals fans would make fun of me. My son doesn't have the same problem.

Brewers fan since 1976. My older brother was a big Yankees fan at the time, so I needed to choose a team to support from the same division. Milwaukee was the closest midwest team in that AL East division, so I became a Brewers fan! For the record - I was SOOOO relieved when the Brewers moved to the National League where they play REAL baseball (No Designated Hitters). If I have to pull for an AL team today, it would be the Orioles (I love Camden Yards - awesome place to watch a game!)

Cardinals. We were raised on Cardinal baseball. My great grandpa was a Cardinal fan and would listen to games on radio and the kids had to be completely quiet when games were on. All of his kids grew up as Cardinal fans and passed it down. My Mom and Dad were at game 7 of 2011 WS.

Pretty much every other sport, I have changed my favorite team as I grew up (for various reasons), but Cardinal baseball has been a constant.

I grew up, and will always be, a Minnesota Twins fan, but I've been following the Nationals since I moved to Washington (through good times and bad - very bad - and it's nice to see them playing so well lately.

Yes, I watched the video. But I've also watched that exact replay closely many times since then.

And yes, they would have still been down two, but bases loaded with only one out is VERY dangerous.

I never said it caused my Braves to lose. But it was a terrible call that greatly impacted a one-game series. That's all I'm saying.

I still don't understand how that isn't an ordinary effort, all he had to do was jog out there, and he would have been "camped" under the ball had he not moved forward

I believe Tori Hunter even sent champagne to the KC clubhouse to "thank us."

We were at that game too! You are right - it was a VERY fun day. The euphoria that swept through the 25,000 or so who stayed to watch the Royals/Tigers game on the big screen was insane. It was a great moment to be a part of, for sure.

Another D-Backs fan here. I moved to Arizona in '98, so I've been a fan since their first season. It'll be a fun team to watch this year. They have a roster of players that emulate their manager Kirk Gibson. They'll play hard and smart.
