I'm a Dodgers fan mainly because of my dad. Also, my first real memory of a World Series was 1988 with Gibson hitting that home run off Eckersley in Game 1. I was only 5 years old but I remember that moment.

NO! THAT IS NOT B ROLL! (sorry, had too)

+1 for Cubs fan.

Grew up watching them on WGN with my grandpa. Great memories of us taking naps through the middle of games (which continued throughout college). Loved Steve Stone and HC.

Another D-Backs fan here. I moved to Arizona in '98, so I've been a fan since their first season. It'll be a fun team to watch this year. They have a roster of players that emulate their manager Kirk Gibson. They'll play hard and smart.

You're gonna like that Prado guy! Dude's a gamer and can play almost every position on the field.

Dodger Blue all the way!! I had aunts and uncles spread all over the country, and the first MLB game I ever saw was at the old Forbes Field in Pittsburgh where one of my dad's sisters lived. They were playing, you guessed it, the Dodgers. Not a lot of fun that night, as I got stuck behind a steel beam and spent the majority of the game bobbing my head left and right to see, but the seeds had been sewn!

Then, a couple of years later, we spent a month in LA visiting my mom's sister, and went to Dodger games every weekday night and weekend day! This was a huge deal for me because I had a couple of cereal box 45's, (45 rpm cardboard record cutouts they put on the back of Wheaties boxes with tips from MLB players). One was Sandy Koufax, the other was Don Drysdale.
I even got to meet them. After that, I was hooked for life!! Plus, it's pretty neat to see them play in the same stadium I went to all those years ago.

I kind of like the Cubbies, too. Who can't help but feel for them? Plus in the 80's, you could watch almost all their games on WGN, and eventually, watch their minor league guys in DM, (it used to be the Iowa Oaks and affiliated with the A's).

Cardinals fan here. And I would like to note that by definition, the infield fly call was technically correct.

i have to disagree. full disclosure, i'm a braves fan but the "ordinary effort" part of the rule was not satisfied. The umpire also did not immdeiatley call for an infield fly, which is also part of the rule. I am aware of my bias and that the Braves lost that game on more than that single call. I still think that was the wrong call.

They played well last night. Kennedy was dealing. Hopefully Kubel has his swing back (sounds like he wasn't looking too hot this spring).

I thought it would be fun to start a conversation on who our favorite MLB teams are and why in honor of Opening Day...

I'll start.

I'm a Braves fan for a few reasons. 1) Because of TBS. I didn't care for the Cubs and because every Braves game was televised on TBS when I was a kid, I could follow them all summer long. 2) Mom has relatives from Atlanta. The Braves were always her favorite team growing up (she lived in the south).

My first memories of cheering for the Braves come from back in 1991. Twins fans, you know what I'm talking about.

Full disclosure - the Royals are my AL team for the same reasons as above. Growing up in SW Iowa, I could watch them on TV and dad took me to KC for a game or two every summer. I'll never forget watching Ken Griffey Jr., Jay Buhner and Edgar Martinez go back-to-back-to-back in the K one night.

George Brett + Bo Jackson + Hal McRae = awesome times.

Chris - HUGE Cubs fan here, but I was actually at Game 7 of the 1991 World Series, and was pulling for your Braves since I am a fan of real baseball (NL), but I sure had fun partying with all the Twinkie Fans in downtown Minny until 4:00AM!! Jack Morris was THE MAN on that day!

It was a perfectly ordinary effort.
In this video, at 1:10, you see Pete Kozma sprinting on a stolen base.

In this video, on the infield fly, he is definitely not anywhere close to sprinting

The DBacks are my second team since I've lived in Phoenix since '99. I generally like most of the team but I think Kevin Towers made a couple of questionable moves this offseason. The Cody Ross signing was a big WTF moment for me. There's no way that guy should have been given a 3 year/$26m deal. His overall numbers look ok, but he hit .232/.294/.390 away from Fenway last year. Chase Field is a hitters park as well, but there's no way Ross comes close to last year's numbers without the benefit of the Monster in LF. Towers also sold way low on Trevor Bauer and he completely submarined his value before making the deal.

Me too. Was an impressionable age when they beat the O's in the WS. And the Steelers were good then too. Still a fan, though don't follow baseball much. Usually only until about May 1... But like you say, maybe this is the year.

I was a big time Twins fan starting when Bud Selig threatened to contract them back in the early 2000s. But then in July of 2011 I moved to the north Detroit suburbs, and I just fell in love with them.

I also cheer for the Mets as that's the family team.

Mariners fan here, ever since the days of Griffey, the Big Unit, A-Ron, Buhner, Edgar Martinez... And Joey Cora.

Also, I'm spending a couple of months in Glendale, AZ this summer for a PT school clinical, and am looking to go to a few D-backs games. Can any of you fans of that team give me any recommendations on games to go to or avoid and things to make sure to experience as part of the gameday atmosphere?

THIS IS THE YEAR!!

CUBS GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!

I am a Boston fan but I really do think Epstein will take Chicago to the promised land within the next 10 years. They're the sleeping giant of baseball. Great president and gm. Great fan base. Great bankroll. Ep will make it happen.
