Started this last week, but had a few day break this past weekend for opening trout season.... so now I'm restarting it for good, and man it seems to be harder this week than last. I can definitely see where people get good results if they follow the program.

What did you spend on the start-up kit? The wife has been wanting us to work out together but I have never done a workout "program". More of just going to the gym and doing stuff there.

What is this workout like and what's it run you to start? I noticed there was a pull-up bar but my wife is like 105 lbs and she can't do a pull-up - I've seen it, it's not happening.

my advice is just watch your calories... walk and jog when you can, and do pushups, ab work, and pull ups somewhere at least twice a week... shoot the rec center is free... run a lap, do a set of weights... run a lap, repeat.. better then p90x and you wont quit.

if not rec center just do at home for general health.

Doubtful. If you dont have the drive to continue p90x, you wont have the drive to make it to the rec renter. Its not just pull ups, push ups and sit ups. It has everything to do with the lifestyle surrounding it and also the timing of the videos. p90x is not a leisurely trip to the rec center if its done properly.

If you are looking for more cardio type workout rather than pullups and pushups for her, maybe Insanity or ChaLean is better. My wife does ChaLean, it is pretty intense but does not do any pullups.

Either that or put a chair under the pullup bar so she can cheat with her feet. After a few weeks of cheating, she will be able to do pullup bar hangs, and then full pullups a few weeks later.

When I first started Kosama, I could not do 2 pullups, and now I can do a dozen. But it takes a LOOOONG time to get to the point you can do them. Most of the women in our class can barely do them after their 8 week session

Starting Insanity on Monday. I don't have much weight to lose, maybe 10 lbs, but I'm in terrible shape. It's gonna hurt.

Yeah, that's about where I'm at. I could probley lose 10-15 lbs and she never gains a pound, but we are both very out of shape. I'll have to look at this Insanity thing.

Insanity is kicking my *** much worse than P90X but I guess that's because I've always been into lifting weights and not so interested in the cardio.

Yes it is.... Drink lots of water, and maybe do a half hour yoga dvd a few times a week to stretch out.

Did you do it? If so, did you actually see the transformation that some of these people did?

I started it, and re-injured my knee (I had ACL surgery about a year before and didn't heal as well as planned). I got about 2 weeks into it and started noticing some change, but part of that was also because I was following the diet plan. I plan on starting up here again soon.

Follow the diet plan and don't skip on the stretching and you should be fine. The first few days are rough but if you guys are doing it together, it should be easier to motivate each other to finish it.

A buddy of mine started P90 and is in his third cycle now. He has lost a total of 56 pounds to date. Looks and acts like a different man! He is not the strictest about his diet, but does watch it. It obviously works if you stick to it. The best thing he did was use his facebook page to talk about his daily workout and progress. The feedback he got from friends along the way was a real motivator.

Two tips...

#1, My soda consumption is cyclical and I can usually quit for 2-3 months every spring. When I haven't had a soda in a couple months I'm 10lbs lighter and have a pretty solid six pack.

#2, If you don't have the self control for cutting out soda. Don't eat dinner on a Friday night, and go out and drink heavily with your friends. I suggest pounding 10-15 Crown and Waters. You'll have to apoligize to all of your friends the next morning, but don't worry they're used to it. You won't be able to walk, move, eat, or otherwise think for the next two days. The great thing is you be so dehydrated that you'll lose 10lbs of water and still have the awesome 6-pack. Win Win. We call it P1X.

Awesome, thank you.

I've heard great things about Insanity as well. I'm doing p90x because I wanted to tone up some muscle as well as lose 10-15 pounds by spring break. Pretty much so far, I've been sticking to the diet as best as I can, and haven't had regular pop since New Year's.

Startup costs were pretty minimal, all I needed was a pullup bar and I got some new weights. 80 bucks total isn't too bad considering gym membership costs that in 3 months. I'm also a lot more motivated to stay on top of it than I would be if I was going to the gym by myself.

Another thing I've found helpful is to keep track of what you eat, calories burned, and weight. It was a real eye-opener when I started calorie counting my first few days before the program, and realized how much **** I actually eat. cutting back has been hard, but it's been worth it already.
