We gave Vue a spin for the trial period while our DirecTV contract is winding down. I think once our contract is up we'll be making the switch.

Regarding digital antennas to pick up local stations, does anyone have any recommendations for quality antennas? We live in the metro and shouldn't have a problem picking up all major Des Moines stations.

No, its so awful compared to Sling. Like mind blowing awful. It can freeze up once in a while, then I exit the channel and select it again.
Sling is so much more stable but Vue's has CSN, and that's huge for me.
I refuse to switch until they fix it. I like Vue's channel lineup a bit better than Sling, but it's not worth having to deal with that crap.

I bought this one, and live in CR about 45 miles from the source. Small, great reception.

I wish Vue had Comedy Central. Might have to subscribe to Hulu to be able to catch up on my shows.

I've been considering doing the OTA option here in Clarence. I'd LIKE to be able to receive both the QC and CR channels. According to TV Fool they are ALMOST but not quite 180 degrees opposite direction from here.

Distances are up to 53 miles in both directions.

It also does not seem to include the sub-channels (9.2, 9.3 etc). Does that mean they aren't going to be picked up if the primary/network channel is? This is unclear to me.

What are the chances a single roof mounted antenna pointing between them would pick up all of them? It's the multi-directional component that most confuses me.

Ive been thinking about cutting the cord as well. I have Mediacom (live in an apartment complex). What would I need to start PS Vue or another system like it? Just get it hooked up?

Was about ready to cut cable in March and Mediacom took $80 a month off my bill to keep me for 2 years.

Will make the switch at the end of the period if they try to raise my rate. Have a OTA attena that works great. Will pick up PlayStation Vue unless there is a better option at that time.

There are many, many different platforms that you can use to stream PSVue. Some you probably haven't even heard of. Basically, once you obtain one of those devices, you log on to the Playstation website, create an account and you're good to go. Too easy.

I use Playstation Vue through the amazon fire tv. It works fantastic and there aren't the problems with the guide like there are on the Roku. Its a little pricier, ($90 vs $50 I think?) but its just a one time cost so it's really not bad. Plus I like the Amazon Fire TV on its on too.

Yea, we have the fire stick on one TV and Roku 3 on the other. I've heard it is much better on the Fire.

I moved from Comcast to Playstation Vue a couple weeks ago. No problem finding the same shows I used to watch for much less money. I primarily watch it using a Roku 3.

Did they finally fix the horrible Roku UI?
I tried Vue several months ago with every intentional of dumping DirecTV. I, too, found the Roku app to be a non-starter. It was horrible. It basically took away everything great I'd heard about Vue. Unfortunately, we have Roku on all our TVs and I'm kind of locked into it at this point.

I keep hearing Hulu has a live TV service coming out soon...and it keeps not happening.

Hulu TV is out now, at least in the NYC market for me it is, but I thought it was everywhere too

Every time I try to quit Direct they bow down and keep my bill at $77 for a 4 TV system (3 wireless genies). BOW DOWN TO ME AT&T DTV.

Got Vue a few months ago and have had all Roku's in my house for some time. They do irritate me some times, but the few alternatives to them I've tried are all worse.

Are the Amazon TV products that much better?

So I have been testing out streaming services. Seeing what is the best for me. Basically I only care about sports.

I have done 2 months of sling. I liked it but others seem to have a little better sports package. Had some issues with the picture not lining up with the sound. Pausing seemed to reset this. I am trying out the Vue now.I am disappointed in no FS KC like sling which might be a deal breaker but in KC I get one local channel as opposed to none with Sling. I think YouTube TV will be the one for me but its not in KC yet.

Any other suggestions?

I can also confirm I was shocked by how bad the Vue app on Roku Express is compared to my Fire TV stick. Although I have just switched to the Fire stick so maybe Ill have issues/
