That's a great job, and all power to a fellow Aero E. But it's not a job where he is going to have $100M in the bank and looking to donate $20M to ISU.

Gotta look for guys who OWN the business. We need some of these engineers to do start ups, become mini-Zuckerbergs, and then donate some big coin...

My neighbor is the son of a family business that does really really well.. His dad and brother are both ISU grads... I dont know how to politely ask how much they are donating, and then telling them to donate more!! They are also not big sports fans.. But my neighbor always asks me to take him to a football game and then flakes out.

If only those guys who invented the first computer at Iowa State saw market value in it, other than just an experiment..

Consider taking your neighbor to the August scrimmage instead of a football game. Hopefully the AD and the Gridiron Club use this opportunity to expand the base. Your neighbor's family would be the ideal candidates for the SEZ Club - where the social is as (or more) important than the athletics.

I was thinking about starting up my own shoe company, and am currently looking for donors for some start up capital. Would also help if anyone had an old building I could use for my factory, AC not required. And if anyone has any young kids looking to make a few cents this summer you can drop them off from 6am to 6pm, in a completely dry diaper.

I cannot get anyone to like my idea. Go to Bill Gates and ask for money. tell him he would be nothing without ISU. Also, for enough money agree to name anything he wants after him. Only half kidding.

you might want get up to speed on compensation for top execs at major corporations.

As COO of boeing he's been paid ~$31 million the last three years. and as of today he has about ~$46 million in stock. i would hope he's already a donor. if he's CEO for 10 years he'll probably make another $150 million and at least that much in stock as well, assuming boeing continues to do well.

Former Lockheed Martin CEO Vance Coffman was an Iowa State graduate also. I wonder if he would chip in? I would've shot him an email about it if he was still working here.

That's just what rich people want, is other folks telling them how they should be spending their money. Tread lightly.

We have another top 5 guy at BA as well. Can't remember his name off the top of my head, but I think he runs the defense business.
