Then he wonders why he seldom gets a call...
He doesn't get the call because he's not getting fouled because he isn't going up aggressive enough to get fouled.

I think the freakish comebacks at the end of last year made for a false sense of how good that team was and inflated expectations for this year. Everything fell into place in those games, including some timely missed FTs by the opponent, the OU Technical and inexplicably taking bad quick shots when up by 1000 points in the second half, and of course the Spangler layup.
That critical shot always fell for us during that stretch and this year it's falling for the other team. This will be good test to see what Prohm can do.
I remember when we were good enough that we didn't have to hang our hats on being close to winning we had actual wins.We are only 4 games into the conference season. Yes ISU gave one away at home. But don't forget OU is the 2nd ranked team and ISU played them very well on the road. The at Texas game is always a tough one for ISU Fred only won once there.
I knew CF would blow up tonight but this post is so incredible as to deserve response. For crying out loud, Huggy Bear has been as West Virginia as head coach since 2007! That is 8 years. He has his team, recruited by him and coached by him at his disposal. Prohm has been head coach for the Cyclones for fewer months than Huggins has years at WV. Comparing the two is about the lowest point I have seen on this forum. Incredible!!
It seems you did not read the original post very well - here it is again:
I think everyone can agree this year's team lacks some intensity and perhaps direction at times.
One can't help but wonder if this isn't something that starts at the top. After just watching what might be the most intense team in college basketball (West Virginia), which happens to be coached by someone who is probably the most intense coach in college basketball you have to think the two may be connected. With maybe the exception of Matt Thomas, I think a coach like Huggins would be leaving these guys crying on the bench. Some like it, some don't but it gets results.
Just wonder if it bothers anyone else to see Texas build a lead at the end of the first half while Prohm (quite literally) squatted on court silently for nearly 3 minutes?
The intention isn't to say, well WV won tonight and ISU lost therefore Prohm should do what Huggins does. It also is not some sort of meltdown post either. It is about INTENSITY, that is it. What Huggins has proven is that talent can be a small part of the equation. The guys we have on the bench not playing a minute could be successful with effort under Higgins.
The point is to say that players' attitudes are a reflection of those who lead them. If you want players to play with intensity then I think it is reasonable to expect a coach to coach with the same intensity.

Disagree. Do you remember the 2012-13 season? Or even Fred's first year?yep. Lots of lucky breaks for 4 years. It is coming back to bite us.

Prohm has just seemed uncomfortable coaching this team since day one. At some point he needs to step up as a leader and make this his team or we are going to keep losing games just like tonight.
I remember when we found comfort in being "so close" and being ready to "turn the corner"....it was the McDermott era.

Why do people keep comparing to last year. That does not help you're point. Last year's team lost to a 14 seed.If got $5 for every post last year that said the same thing about Fred I might not need to play powerball.
People were ******** Fred would not use its timeouts, all the time team got down.
Prohm is following same blueprint as Fred.
Last year more shots fell to win, this year thus far we had a couple of late game winners, but we had a couple miss as well, fine line between winning and losing.
I am going to wait and see what things look like start of Feb.
As its stands now we lost a game we won last year, we can make that up if we win at KSU.
The fact that Steve Prohm has to reassure the fans that he has reached out to "basketball people" and they assure him that the team is making strides is concerning.
Is it the least talented team or has the least talented coaching staff failed to develop players like Burton and Cooke halfway into the season.
