I've heard sitting out for a year really sucks. So, sitting out for 2 years? No way Burton would go for that. Whether it's the best scenario or not. He wants to play. As soon as possible.

Agree, plus delaying will make him older thereby hurting his chances of being drafted.

I would bet a lot of money that we don't bring in two immediately eligible players. Adding Harris would be perfect since he's a good player, that will start or play significant minutes. With him in the mix, we would have a 9-man rotation when Burton is able to play, assuming both Naz and Cooke are 100% healthy.

I don't see Burton redshirting, and I don't see us going beyond a 9 man rotation.
100% this.

Burton has 2 years of eligibility remaining. That can't be split up between different years, so the 2 scenarios are:

1) Play 2nd semester of 15-16 and full year of 16-17
OR
2) Sit out entire year 15-16 and then play 2 full years (16-17 and 17-18)

Since we seem to be going all in for 15-16, option 1 seems to be the way we are going. But, option 2 is not crazy so you should probably understand the situation a little better before rolling out insults. Redshirting would not be holding him out just to play against Texas Southern Tech. It'd be so he could do that as well as play against each big 12 team twice.
What?? He's in the same boat as McKay. He'll play second semester this upcoming season which is conference play. Again in 16-17 and he gets everyone twice...He's too good to redshirt next season and could start late in the season depending on Nader or if a couple eligible ready transfers allow Niang to play more wing..

He's not redshirting, nor did I claim he was. Just stating facts about both scenarios since there was confusion. He has 2 years of eligibility remaining, not 3 semesters. He uses 1 year by playing any of next season.

I agree. Burton already sat out a calendar year, tough to ask him to sit out another 9 months of competitive play on top of that. He wouldn't have transferred at mid season last year if he didn't want to play this ASAP. In reality, missing the fall non con only ends up being 9-10 games out of 35ish.

Here nor there
It was implied by the poster stating that he shouldn't be redshirted just to play against Southern Texas Tech. He'd play the entire year in 17-18, not just the first semester.

Guess what part of the season he gains by redshirting and playing 2 full years as opposed to starting in December like McKay? More games against cupcakes. The post was sound.

Fred and Burton only know, buy it seems unlikely he is going to rs.

It's a message board, people give their opinions. That's all there is to it.

and that is fine, but he and others at times do not clarify it is an opinion. Some on this board know people on the team, coaches, people in the AD ect...but because it is a huge board it is hard to know who has legit info and who is just posting something they think. So ideally the poster should say something like "in my opinion, he won't redshirt". That would tell us the poster doesn't know for sure or vice versa. I don't want to come off as the board behavior police or anything but I'm sure there are many other posters that would appreciate if people wouldn't just make such bold blanket statements without clarifying if they actually know for sure or if it is just their feeling or opinion. In the end, no big deal really, the board is still fun and useful.

Assume that people don't know anything. The ones who are most adamant about their connections are probably the most full of it.

Another great point. Why would any basketball player want to sit two years in a row? We might as well kiss him playing for ISU goodbye if he sits out this year. He won't stay if Fred redshirts him this year.

If he redshirts (I don't think he will) it would be a mutual decision.
