Lanning not playing again after throwing the 75 yard TD pass is a travesty.

The seat is red hot at this point for CPR. IMO, there is almost absolute certainty that CPR will be asked to resign or be fired. The only question is if he remains in his mansion in Gilbert and collects his $4.5 million or moves on.

I am not a blindfolded defender of SBR. I saw one good thing yesterday from him - a willingness to throw deep. We had some great plays and Lanning was a part of that. TCU moved their guys into the box (like everyone) daring us to throw deep. We finally did it. We had a couple referee takeaways and 1 or 2 drops and no interceptions, so I wouldn't say it was another TTU day for Sam. This year, he almost never rolls out, and he doesn't run any keepers. Maybe he thinks he is too "valuable" to get hurt. That is a remaining Sam issue, as well as his inaccuracy on wide open receivers. It is ironic that SBR will be in our record books, because he will surely have the record for most losses as a starter. I was out of line on the RBs. They had a fumble, a slip, a couple missed cuts. Not bad - just nowhere to run.
Warren is still green, he flat out didn't man up on a block which caused SR to get sacked, almost turned into a fumble. Warren better be running laps because that isn't the first time he didn't put effort in picking up a blitz.

This...and I bet CPR moves. Staying in town with our $4.5mm is like stealing your best friends girlfriend and then bringing her to the same friends party. Time for him to pack up and go.

Yeah idk how you could keep Lanning out after that 25 yard laser to Lazard. That throw was almost perfect. I couldn't see Sam making or attempting that throw.

The question came up many times on the Cyclone Reaction show. The hosts stated that when Rhoads was asked in the press conference why Lanning didn't play more, he said something like "that will be part of our Sunday review coaching discussions"

Jack Whitver interpreted that to mean Mangino was making all the QB playing time decisions.

That answer made it pretty clear it was mangino. Which also makes it seem like his answer about not centering the kick at Toledo was protecting Mangino and not covering for a mistake by the RB. Seems like Mangino is poking holes in this sinking ship.

I think the remaining Sam issue is that he stares at the one receiver he wants to throw to. This is the reason for most of his INTs or near INTs. Drives me nuts that he doesn't do a better job surveying, as experienced as he is.

It is criminal that Lanning isn't starting at this point. That throw was a 25 yard back shoulder throw. That tells me Lanning is mentally and physically ready when he reads the coverage and puts the ball the one place the defender can't get it.

One throw told you all that?

I hope Lanning gets his shot soon bc we need to start working towards the future. There will still be complaints about bad throws though.

Warren's blocking is pretty bad, and that fumble was huge.He is a young and talented, but we saw how much of his recent success was due to our OL going against some bad DLines.

It is striking how much better we are when playing bad teams! Remember all the buzz about Lazard being a difference maker at punt returner after the UNI game? Remember how sack mamba was going to destroy league QBs?

CPR has said that a few times this season. Seems there may be some friction between the 2 head coaches?

This is a big 10 or 1990's mentality. If you are going to win in our league, you have to think offense first. No one...no one....no one...stops teams like Baylor and TCU. Your only hope is to be efficient on offense and try to force timely turnovers. Every good team in our league is built around a talented QB, that position should be our biggest concern week in, week out. Our coaching staff has settled for mediocrity at QB, we are seeing the results.

I'll add to this. I had the opportunity to watch Baylor yesterday for the first time this season. They are incredibly talented. Corey Coleman is phenomenal and he's going to tear us a new one. They have so much speed at the skill positions and they match it with strength and great coaching. Truly a special team.

Yes, with Baylor I think we are looking at a national championship team. Very few flaws or weaknesses...their defense is much better than its statistics might indicate. Talent everywhere and very good coaching. Would so love to watch them destroy Iowa in a playoff game...bend but don't break defense is a death sentence against Baylor.

Way up there
regardless of Lannings readiness, if you put a package in for a guy to run and that package at least gives you positive yards every time you run it, why don't you run it more? It's not about who the QB is as much as why you wouldn't continue to utilize plays that work. Seems like every play Lanning has been in the game for has been for positive yards. Not huge yards but not so bad that you quit running it.

The botched pitch play was on Sam not Warren. The play was there but Sam hesitated, the pitch was a split second late and as a result the ball was pitched behind Warren. You lead the RB on the pitch not toss it behind him.

That game sums up Sam Richardson's career...pretty decent statline, but leads the offense to just 14pts while he's at QB and loses.

For as good as TCU is, their last two road games against mid-lower tier Big 12 opponents they gave up 45 and 52 points.

Because he has great WRs that attack the ball and was going against DBs that do not play the ball.

This so true. Our defensive secondary looks lost at times, a lot of big plays have happened when ISU had good coverage. So frustrating.
