Question about P90X

I never did P90X, but don't get down if you're really sore tomorrow. It will get better. It's not the worst thing in the world to take a break before really getting going with the program if need be.

He did Insanity, I believe. And yes, I was DYING during the fit test too. Stick with it, it gets much better.

Question about the diet plan thing. It seems as though I'm eating a lot of food..... 1900 calories is about right but the whole eating 5 meals a day is weird. Anyone else feel this way?

I don't really do that, but if you are wanting to get the full effect of the workout plan, do it. You just eat less instead of eating 3 big meals. I often find myself being REALLY full after smaller meals, to be honest. I swear the workout plan makes my body hate fatty foods.

The whole smaller meal thing seems to make me full too, I will try it out for a couple weeks and see what happens.

In theory, small meals allow you to avoid the big insulin spikes that 3 big meals might bring. Might. Personal experience, research, classes over 10 years. Doesn't matter, just make healthy choices.

Alright sounds good, I'm going to stick with the meal plan just because I have all the groceries right now.

Healthy eating in general tends to do that. Every few months, we kid about eating at McDonald's, but we don't have the gumption to do it anymore. It's just not our food anymore.

Yep, I tried this last year (not insanity) just dieting, and it was working out really well. Then I slipped up and went all the way down the slide. But I remember thinking to myself that fast food really doesn't taste that good. Now it does again, but I'm back to exercising and eating well.

I guess my point was any good work out plan will do. Don't need p90x. Just have to stay dedicated on your plan.

The best way to do that is to find an activity you ENJOY. If you like playing basketball, or lifting weights, or martial arts, or walking, or whatever -- then you will keep doing it. If you hate it, odds are you will not stick with it.

Alright so did the second day holy crap am I going to be sore tomorrow. Instead of using one of their last meal plan things I just ate 260 calories worth of soup. Is this a bad idea? It's a little less calories than what they had for their meals.

The thing is, is I'm not good at making up plans for myself, and it would be easier for me to follow along. I used to play Bball, but then stopped and haven't really done anything since. Now I'm fat and I want to get back into shape so I'm more comfortable. Just looking for something that will give me results when I put in effort, for some reason I don't do well with gyms because I have no idea what I'm doing.

Sounds like P90x is sort of what your looking for. It worked for me but in the end it's just like any other exercise video. It all really comes down to personal preference. The host of P90x is a huuuuge toolbag that just won't shut up. He's constantly either talking about how awesome he is or pseudo-hitting on the girls in the video (who aren't half bad). The nice thing about p90x is that it's made up of 14 difference exercises that give your body a workout in completely different way. Some days are strength and weight training heavy while others are more aerobic-based work out. This is cool because it takes some of the repetition and monotony out working out every single day. A balance diet and variety of workouts is the best bet. Sticking with it is another story entirely.

After reading up on some reviews, it sounds like Insanity might be for me. Definitely sounds like it will be the hardest thing I've done in at least four years, and probably ever. But I'm tired of looking the way I do, and feeling the way I do. I've put on about 65 pounds in the last four years, and I'm in the absolute worst shape of my life.

I'd love to drop from 220 to 200 or less. I mean I know I'm never going to be 155 and as lean as I was as a senior in high school again (that just wouldn't be healthy), and I'm fine with having filled out some. But I'm thinking 180 is probably my ideal weight (I'm about 5'11"). Won't get to that weight in 60 days, but I can definitely put a dent into it, and there's no rule that says I have to stop the workouts at 60 days.

tm3308, Insanity is hard as hell. Are you in at least respectable shape cardio-wise? If not, I wouldn't start it until you are.
