I am in week 4 of insanity right now. I do the workouts barefoot, to try to build more strength in my legs. It probably slowed me down some at the beginning, but I am starting to really feel it now.

I don't follow the diet. Really, most people know what is good for them and what isn't. Losing weight is simple, burn more calories than you take in. That's it.

I recommend the My Fitness Pal app. It is an easy way to track your calorie intake and burn.

tm3308, Insanity is hard as hell. Are you in at least respectable shape cardio-wise? If not, I wouldn't start it until you are.

I wasn't in very good shape when I started it. I do wear a heart rate minitor just to make sure I don't explode. I don't think you have to be in all that good of shape to start, just don't overdo it and have patience. At first, I had a hard time making it through warmups but I just took my breaks and stuck with it. Now, with the exception of Power and Resistance and Level 1 stuff on Circut, I don't have near the issues. I think the key is to not get discouraged when you can't do everything or dow everything as fast as they do.

Don't your feet hurt? That's one of the bigger issues I have had. At certain times my feet start to hurt a little. Come to think of it though, that doesn't happen much anymore. I work out on carpet so maybe I could work out barefoot and take a little more advantage too.

I workout barefoot as well and it seems to be better than shoes.

After reading up on some reviews, it sounds like Insanity might be for me. Definitely sounds like it will be the hardest thing I've done in at least four years, and probably ever. But I'm tired of looking the way I do, and feeling the way I do. I've put on about 65 pounds in the last four years, and I'm in the absolute worst shape of my life.

I'd love to drop from 220 to 200 or less. I mean I know I'm never going to be 155 and as lean as I was as a senior in high school again (that just wouldn't be healthy), and I'm fine with having filled out some. But I'm thinking 180 is probably my ideal weight (I'm about 5'11"). Won't get to that weight in 60 days, but I can definitely put a dent into it, and there's no rule that says I have to stop the workouts at 60 days.

Insanity is a good workout that is for sure, you don't have to be in shape to do it just take breaks when you need to.

Insanity is great for 1 round but gets pretty boring after awhile. I hate the times where you have to do 3 repetitive sets. It will definitely bust your balls.

I have decided that I'm going to do the first month twice. I was not in good shape when I started so my thought is that doing it the second time will help me get much more out of the supposed hell that is the second month.

Actually, my calves usually burn out long before my feet start to hurt. Jumping jacks when you are barefoot are killers.

I start the 2nd month hell in 2 weeks. I am pretty nervous about it to be honest.

The 2nd month is a bear. Not really higher intensity, just longer and more repetitive.

In my opinion you really need good athletic shoes. Cross Trainers are perfect as they have shock absorbtion over the whole foot.

I am on week 2 right now and I think the nutrition is harder than the workouts so far, and the workouts are still kicking my butt. My legs feel like lead today.

I think I'm still in okay cardio shape, relative to the average person. I'm in God-awful shape compared to what I was 4 years ago. It's embarrassing.

It could be worst, some people really have never been in shape. I have been working out for the last few months and I just got back to my high school weight. However, it's still not a good weight to be at, but at least I'm losing weight.

Started the second month today. I'm going to have to break down and wear shoes at least part of the time. My calves are still burning 2 hours later.

My calves have never been an issue. It is ALWAYS my quads first.

I haven't had a lot of next day effects especially after the first week. I think it was because I was in such poor shape that I couldn't do enough cardio wise to make my muscles hurt.

I've lost 10 lbs so far after 2 weeks.

Good work. I hit the big loss in about weeks 3-4. Of course, I didn't follow the nutrition religiously. I'm down about 7 in four weeks. I need to kick it up a notch.

Maybe not what your looking for, but currently I'm overweight at 340 at 6'3. I decided I wanted to do something about it. I was at 370, started with eating right and walking. At 340 I decided to go with a program more towards Cardio as opposed to muscle building. So I picked up the Turbofire DVDs cheaply on Amazon. That was 5 weeks ago. I'm only down to 335, however I have lost 4 inches off of waist. My legs and arms are becoming more and more defined everyday. This is in part to the resistnace band training that is included in the Turbofire schedule. Nothing like P90X has you do, but still a good amount for an overweight guy.

There are some drawbacks. I'm pretty convinced that this program was designed with chicks in mind, there are guys they use as examples in the video...but still.

HOWEVER.

Most of the women in the videos wear Yoga pants. So its not all too bad.

I've been finishing my sessions with Mikes Mix recovery drink. Which is better tasing (imo) and far cheaper than the p90X stuff.

Mike's Mix Recovery Drink[/QUOTe)

shut down your pie hole and watch your caloric intake. get off of sugar and replace it with a stevia based sweetener. that will help on your caloric intake because stevia adds no calories to your diet..also increase your exercising so you can burn some calories from your body weight...

Update, I'm down 14 pounds and am consistently losing weight each week. Just joined myfitnesspal on my smart phone, awesome app. I haven't been working out as much as I should because my knees are killing me. But I have been helping friends move/walking every day. Once my knees feel better it's back to insanity. Right now all the weight lost is from diet alone.

Insanity is hell on the knees. I've ran a marathon and my knees hurt less.

Question about Insanity.

There are three different Cardio Abs workouts. One on the same disk at Pure Cardio, one on the same disk as Max Cardio Conditioning, and one on its own disk. I can pretty much figure that when it says Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs or Max Cardio Conditioning & Cardio Abs that you do the second program on the appropriate disk.

When (if ever) do you use the stand-alone disk?

I haven't watched all three, but maybe they are the same and the stand-alone disk is for when you just want to pop that one in?

Can't seem to find anything on this anywhere.
