Depends. Mindset tends remain fairly static ie youthful, while birthday's are racing by like dog years. Suddenly realizing that the fetching smile doesn't mean "I've still got it", it's actually "he reminds me of my Dad", tends to be fatal to that youthful mindset. The old rockers hoping to die before they get old (30) don't seem very funny anymore. There can be a depressing recognition that everything is sagging, lots things hurt with nagging frequency, and may result in desperate, destructive reactions.
Or, can suck it up, still think young while acknowledging you're not. Grasp that presenting a favorable image as a parent/grandparent, being a stranger who seems safe to hug, is a pretty darn good thing.
That's a win. Boomer stuff.
